My honda crv would do abs passenger warnings, clear with scanner then come back when seat moved. Tried cleaning the underneath connector with contact cleaner, but I found the cure on youtube, said connector is held tight with a tie wrap.....been fine ever since

The systems are very sensitive, especially at the connectors. A sudden wiggle can spring the light. It's rarely the air bag that's ever faulty. I've been tracing every connector on the Aygo, but managed to get a reading from the scanner this week - disconnecting the control module and re-connecting reset what ever was stopping the scanner - all I needed was a code to confirm the fault. Battery has been out since last night, so can get on with removing the airbag and steering wheel tonight.

It's important to be careful if displacing air bag connectors - this can sometimes make then go off! When I worked in auto design/development, a technician had an air bag go off in the car he was working on in the workshop - cue a written report and him having hearing tests. Not something you want to be near when it goes off (unless it's giving you crash protection of course)

Battery was disconnected for 24h. Only reason was it saved me time this evening after getting home on the bike, showering, then leaving the battery off for 30 minutes or more would have meant waiting, so disconnected last night, so could get fixing it at about 6pm. Wanted it done as I want to give the garage a bit of notice. I 'hopefully' won't need them. Booked in for next Tues, so I'll cancel tomorrow.

General question , car headlights ? Saw some posts on Tesla ones for example , £2000 odd to replace, sealed units !!?? Got me thinking about some other brands as well, fancy LED lighting . Quite scary if that’s the case !?

I remember a discussion online about 'cyclops ' drivers (one headlight out), and someone complaining his Mercedes lights were over £2k a pop, that was a few years ago. My Mazda has LEDs, dread to think how much they'd be, not that much but firkin expensive I suspect.

Our previous car (Fiat Grande Punto) had a stone hit or whatever and had a break in the plastic cover of the headlight which is all part of the unit. We tried local breakers, who only had one for a model a year earlier that was slightly different. Price of 'genuine' Valeo part was nearly £300, so we 'took a chance' and bought a new pattern part off a supplier on Ebay. It was £60, and fitted perfectly, gave a correct beam and also was easier to adjust (the adjusters were more accessible to turn using an fallen key than the Valeo - In fact if anything it appeared to be better quality! The earlier one from the breakers....... The difference was that It didn't have the 'extra passenger' adjustment motors, but strangely had more wires than our model.

There are a number of expensive headlamps now, LED are very expensive. HID used to be the expensive ones.

Have several Volvo XC90 which due to daytime running lights before they were fashionable, regularly blew bulbs, they were a pain to access getting you hand down behind the airbox to access the screw caps and blubs.... How silly...

Until late into my ownership I found these two tent pegs which pulled up and the light cluster dropped into my hand what a dimwit I was....!!

Land Rover Discovery used to have a similar method of removing the headlights. I recall replacing a lamp one Hogmanay whilst out at a friends.
