Our little C3 petrol is due an MOT in May. By then the pads on the front will be well down. So I ordered new pads/rotors for £68 all in. God I like little car parts prices 😁

will you change the spark plugs regardless or will you just replace the ones (if any) that need replaced?

Manufacturer recommends first change at 75k. As said, the cars cost virtually nothing since I had it barring servicing costs, a broken rear spring and some front pads, I reckon the car deserves some new ones.
The electrodes are very fine so it's difficult to see how it's doing but they do visually look ok.
It'd be nice to have the certainty ones not likely to fail. (I realise that statement contradicts itself  😀)

Same price as the rear ones for my E-Class estate ... fronts, on the other hand £120

God, I hate big car prices

It's one of those theoretical ideas, which in practice is so bad.

Keeping the rubber belts on the outside of the engine worked for decades. Other than bent valves due to engine designers deciding interference valve trains were a good idea. Dry cambelts were a doddle

We've taken over SWMBO's 'works van', but one of the keys isn't working
('65 plate' Yaris Hybrid)

Does anyone know of a reputable repair/replacement company
Ideally within the West Yorkshire area, so I can go there

Thanks

Do Timpsons offer this service. What's not working ? Is it keyless start ?

Decided seen as it was nothing to do much today, weather being mild but bloody wet, I would do the Citroen C3 front discs and pads. Didn't fancy next week when temps could drop below zero.

First hurdle corroded wheels onto hubs. In fact all were corroded on. This leads me to think it's on its original tyres, which are still fairly decent tread at 36k miles.

Once wheels were off, straight forward, job. Thump with sledge hammer to break free corroded disc from hubs. Wirewheel all corrosion away, lubricate pins with ceramic lube.

Refit new components.

Old disc were

pretty worn, pads had 25% left

The ones on our Aygo were in bad shape when we bought it - wouldn't have passed the MOT had it been done at my local garage. Similar price for discs and pads though. I've checked my van's disc prices, and even Brembo aren't too bad TBH. Tyre prices seem reasonable as it runs on XL car tyres, not van tyres.

Car jobs are off at the moment. I need an oil change on MrsF's car, and I was going to "lano" spray my van's chassis, but I can't get under there with my pelvis issues. Both cars have had the underside snow foamed with a chassis degreaser, especially after the winter, and jet washed off. Once I get chance I'll pop under and top up both cars chassis and suspension parts. When covid hit (and we couldn't do much), I pulled the wheels of MrsF's car, cleaned off the suspension components and sub frame and coated it with aquasteel. It's done a great job as there is no corrosion to be seen.
