One week on with the 2014 CX Comp, most spent tweaking after each ride- had to flipped the stem to get the handlebars higher, bar angles and fine tuning saddle angle and offset. It has spent most of the week on muddy, wet and gritty tow paths and has been a comfortable ride. Getting used to the shifting on the Sora levers, some gear change isn't as crisp or positive as I thought it would be- could it need adjusting or it's just the quirk of the groupset. Brakes are still fiddly, had to re-seat the brakes again, took 4 attempts to get the back rub free. First time on mechanical disc, how long typically does it take to bed in? The rear brakes seem very weak, can't seem to lock up the rear into a skid, maybe i need to find a steep hill and drag the brake as I go down...

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Yes I am sure they did mean a mountain bike size so they tell me that when they know I am looking at CX / Road bikes.
- hardly inspires confidence does it? Really is a shame that you can't get these bikes from another source. Maybe an email to CB himself might shake them up.

I agree why can't you get Boardmans from a reputable source who know what the're talking about. Just this afternoon I went to my local branch to investigate the 2014 CX. Asked the two young assistants if I could have a sit on the show model. To my amazement they asked me to return on Monday as an assistant had taken the padlock keys home that connect all the bikes together. Come on Chris get these bikes to proper bike shops, you're losing a fortune in sales!

Yes it is a shame, outside the UK you can buy them from Wiggle.

Not sure if anyone else has read up on it but from my understanding all Boardman CX teams have been recalled due to hairline cracks, supposedly present in many of the seat posts.

Yes, supposedly cosmetic only. They pulled it from the website but looks like it's back.

Right, finally going to buy my CX Comp this week since no other CXs seem to be as good value. None of the stores in Southampton have one in so I'm going to have to wait for it to be shipped and built, but is it worth me going into store to buy it rather than online (ie. will they install the mudguards etc if I go in and ask!)? Can anyone recommend a decent pair of flat pedals to go with it or should I attempt clipless?

Can have the best of both worlds and get those with one side clipless and other side normal. I got a pair of Shimano Saint Mx80, similar to the DMR V8 burndust has. Pedals are not hard to install, to remove the stock ones a normal spanner is ok, to put on your replacement you may need to a thinner profile one like a pedal wrench, but I got by using my normal spanner.
