I have just been to Halfords looking at the CX Comp and it does have mudguard eyelets on the forks so why is everyone saying it doesn't.

The comp has them but the team does not.

Only fly in the ointment is the lack of front mudguard lugs on the fork but I'm sure I can bodge round it. Also not sure about the BB5 brakes after using hydraulics for years but we'll see.
You can get around this with an inexpensive workaround. Halfords sell a couple of black plastic clips with a screw screw mount for the bottle bolts for around £3.50. I think they're designed for frames with no bottle mount drillings but they work just as well for mudguards. You can vary the diameter so just mount them on your forks instead. Fasten the mudguards to them. Jobs a good'un. Did the same thing on my Boardman Hybrid!!

I am having trouble deciding what size CX Comp to get, I have had a look at the Medium (53) and while it fits it maybe a little big on the reach and there is certainly not as much seat post showing as there is on my Specialized.

I currently have a Specialized Secteur Elite it is a 54 I am 5 foot 7 with a 30 inside leg does anyone know how boardman are supposed to measure up compared with Specialized as I just get the niggling feeling it is to big and they didnt have a Small in to try for comparison.

Best thing to do is to get yourself down a local store and try it out, I was fortunate they had both med/large in comp/team spec in store- I was recommended a medium but after sitting on one the large was the clear winner.

Also will SKS Bluemels Mudguards fit on the CX Comp as looking at it the front disc brake calliper looks to partially obscure the mudguard eyelet so I want to make sure they will fit before buying them.
If it's anything like my Tricross then you just need to bend the stays a little, maybe use a longer bolt too packed out with washers or similar

The stays will foul the caliper without having to bend them out the way- I will be trying this tonight mounting the front guards. The rear is relatively straight forward- only if the sks mounting system was a lot less fiddly- like introducing a variable angle, adjustable length stay, it would be so much easier..

Well after spending close to 2.5 hrs finally got the guards on, looks great and blends in nicely with the dark paint works. Close up of how I routed the eyelet and stays on the brake calliper side.....

Which mudguards are those and do they fit ok where they fix to the top of the forks ?

SKS P45 commuters chromopastic, they fit but the bracket does not sit flush with the heavily contoured rear on the eyelet fork bridge. Althougth nothing without two washers either side and a bit of strength for a tight grip.

Some nice bending there ^_^. I took mine the other way and went over the top of the caliper (same mudguards) - but as long as it does the job does it reallt matter!!

Thanks- above is a good idea as it wouldn't potentially interfere with the brake calipers - I think I chose to go below to get a similar stay profile on both sides. Would of been good if SKS could fit a mini stay connecting the fork and the secure clip so that the clip is closer to the edge of the rim- that way it wouldn't foul the calipers and stop overly bending of the main stays.

I am a bit clueless when it comes to disc brakes as I have never had a bike with them on. I see a lot of people change the Tektro brakes for Avid ones so I assume on the Boardman CX Comp you can change the Tektro callipers for Avid BB7 callipers but do you need to change the disc as well or just the calliper and why are the different size discs available.
