Crap. You can still walk away with the bike
I asked if anyone had used one I was thinking of using it in conjunction with another lock. Also no one is going to walk away from my pub with my bike on there shoulders. Thinking of it for the front wheel. Have you used it/seen it?

I haven't bothered to get one. They won't fit lots of bikes and are usually built into the frame. Just get a d lock.

Pity if they are built into frame. As I have disc brakes I thought I might be able to use one. D locks are good but there is nothing for me to lock it to. I have 4 I think in the garage keep losing the keys. No bike rack no street lights nothing really. At pubs benches are all that's available.
PS used to live in scumvill..... North Manchester!

"It annoys me when people make it easy for thieves"
Why would you think I should care what you think... bit pretentious of you
"if they could only be arsed"
So I am bone idol? What rural area do you live in that makes you an expert on where I live?

I think we all know the answer to that, and as for 'pretentious' I think you'll find it's a point of view, are you not then making it easy for thieves by leaving your bike unlocked?

Its people like you who will end up whinging when it gets stolen and yes it annoys me when insurance premiums take a hike because people make it easy for thieves

I don't need to be an expert on where you live because believe it or not whatever sleepy backwater you live in doesn't make you immune to getting your bike nicked.....Durrrrr....

The irony is it will take for your bike to get nicked for you to realise that at which point it's too late

Pity, I haven't put in a insurance claim in 30 + years. Though on one level I except you would proably be pleased if I had. No doubt you have put in plenty of claims.
And no doubt you have left your bike unlocked many times before in the back garden of your house or a mates... So a bit of hypocrite to boot.

Well actually to answer the OP it depends on how much you really depend on the bike and can you maybe leave the lock at work etc if it is heavy ?
ALL locks can be cut with croppers, be they chain [even the through hardened stuff] cable or D type. Below about £50 they are really only a deterant to "grabit and run" types. If using any sort of chain ALWAYS try to wrap it so that it is well clear of the ground. The better chains can be cut but usually only if the cutters are braced against the floor and seriously leant on. If they want it they will take it - what you have to try to do is to make it to much trouble to be worth bothering.

You did claim me and my "ilk" were costing you money in higher insurance claims even though I have only ever put in 1 claim in 30 + years ago for a flood.
Now let me explain this to you, if I want to leave my bike unlocked that is my business or put another mind your own business.
"Its people like you who will end up whinging when it gets stolen"
silly silly little man give it up I will leave my bike unlocked if I want and you have no right to criticise me for doing so unless you are perfect??
Grow up and move on.

Anyone concerned about their insurance premium rocketing when @brand gets his bike nicked can relax.

No policy I know of will pay out on an unlocked bike, particularly outside the home.
