Nice. There is hope for a snow day or two later in the week though, certainly for us in the Sarf. It better bloody well not be at the weekend as that'd be a total waste.

Sadly the snow is all at work

Should be nice for the lunchtime run

Like we need telling about the biting wind to be convinced it's cold where you are:ohmy:. Even if there wasn't the wind, minus 12 must be very:cold::cold::cold:
:okay:
Minus 12 doesn't feel as cold as you might think. If it's still and dry, three or four layers on top two on the legs, and you're warm as toast.

Barnet,
A few snow flurries here in North London, it has settled a little but only on the grass and verges. Very cold though.
It would be very interesting timing if this did turn into a big event - one of the biggest snow events we have had in the borders was Wed 28th Feb 2001. (same day/date alignment too) It was a blast from the east too, probably about 14" of snow come down over night with gale force easterly winds, it was a different type of weather system though, a low unexpectedly back tracked south westwards across the north sea.
it was absolute chaos for 3 or 4 days, they had to bring army chinooks in to get supplies into the valleys, every road was blocked, we lost our electric for 5 days, it was an event few will forget round here.
I remember that as being onTuesday 27/02/01.
This being south east Scotland rather than south east England it never got a mention on the news. It was so windy that all my windows on all sides of the house were covered in snow, I had to open the back door to see what was happening outside. There was about 14" in Gala as well, although it was hard to measure the depth due to the drifting. There was considerably more in Hawick. Photo below was taken on the following Saturday on the A7. This was two days after it had reopened and was officially passable with care, the care being much needed due to the variable road width, some sections being effectively single track.

Update from the Kent coast.
About 1 inch of snow fell between about 5am and 8am. It is currently bright, but obviously cold. Especially as the bloke who is installing my log burner today has left all the doors of the house open........
I can confirm that it is not the snowmageddon/endoftheworldasweknowitextinctionevent that we were sort of promised.

Where are you? I'm in Dover and have hardly been affected. Folks near Sandwich had an inch on the roads but that went by 11 o'clock.
