Well, not exactly snowed under here - about 4cm - but it is very cold and the gritted road past our house is still compressed snow and ice. Shouldn't take long, though, for the surface to get above minus six.

The beast is upon us in the north.

Well, I suppose so. It's about minus 12C but there's a biting wind making it feel very cold indeed. Even the Serb at work hasn't cycled in today.

Here in Accrington it's deep in snow. The traffic's crawling up the hill outside. Funnily enough, last night i rooted out a fleecy sweatshirt to keep warm. It has "Save now for a Christmas bonus from ASDA" written on the front. It certainly feels like Christmas today, with all this snow about!:santa:

So disappointed I can blame the weather and take a snow day at home

Nice. There is hope for a snow day or two later in the week though, certainly for us in the Sarf. It better bloody well not be at the weekend as that'd be a total waste.

Over here in Chorley we have two inches of snow. Judging by the lack of traffic noise the village school has panicked in to closing. This is a major bonus and gives us a day free of the 4x4 mummies who insist on delivering their little darlings at 9.00am at high speed - get up earlier is my advice.

Just watched the execrable Carol Kirkwood show us how the next 48 hours is clearly not going to be the disaster she promised. Two areas of the country, northeast and southeast, with heavy snow forecast. Showers for the rest of us. Thursday looks a bit of a bummer here with a 7% chance of rain and windspeeds of 40+ mph. I have to take my wife to Manchester airport that day so the journey looks a bit unpleasant. Airport forecast is similar so that’s going to be a bouncy take off!!

Apologies for the cynicism.

Brushed an inch of fluffy stuff off the car and made it the 50 feet to the road. Got to work early.
Oh well, just waiting for the alarmist propaganda for tomorrow now.

Couple of inches here, the gritted roads were fine at 6.30am but were covered in snow at 8.30am. The school buses normally are the one's that call it off around here, the single track country roads are not well sorted to them at the best of times, of course if you live in a city you might not know of these things.

Update from the Kent coast.
About 1 inch of snow fell between about 5am and 8am. It is currently bright, but obviously cold. Especially as the bloke who is installing my log burner today has left all the doors of the house open........
I can confirm that it is not the snowmageddon/endoftheworldasweknowitextinctionevent that we were sort of promised.
