I've just got back in and the ride was certainly, with the windchill, the coldest I've been on since the 1980's. The Garmin got down to -4.2c but with the windchill felt much colder.

A few non settling flurries of snow but nothing settled. Waiting for the main events later this week, which will probably miss us as well
Friday looks promising though.

We have some friends from Slovakia and A few from Poland. My brother is Canadian. They’re all just laughing at all this hype over the weather. A few snow flakes, (can I say that here) and sub zero temps and the whole country loses their mind.
Exactly...it's a cold snap. We get them most years. Minus 5 or whatever isn't particularly cold. And there isn't much snow

At the risk of maintaining the "here we go, metropolitan nobbers" narrative...for lots of the country it's no big deal and not unusual. Here in N Derbyshire it was colder earlier this winter and there will be a bit of snow but nothing to get excited about

My wife flies from Heathrow on Thursday evening. The current local forecast for the area is 55% chance of snow, 14mph wind, 2C.

So what is the fuss about?

Before retiring I regularly set off for work in temperatures of -5 or 6.

Big coat day up here.
