A bloke, as old and as fat as me cycled past me on a straight flat road with apparent ease, on what looked like a new racing bike.

I engaged my big front ring and soon caught him up, then I saw he was on one of these ebike racers:

Up close, the big rear hub was the give away. I had a quick chat and he said he only bought it for the local hills, I said West Cheshire doesn't have any hills.

Edit: Sorry wrong thread

Must ask, what were you doing on the little ring anyway in West Cheshire. East Cheshire/Manchester hill dweller here. Tisk tisk.

We bought our Ford Ka brand new in April 2012 so far we have covered nearly 15,000 miles. We intend to keep this great little car as it’s too expensive to change it does everything we want it to do. We have cycles and bus passes plus senior railcards for getting about. It’s so simple to repair and cheap to service. Here’s to the next thirteen years.
And there's nothing wrong with that. However you may find an increasing number of places where you can't take it - although with that mileage I suspect you only use it very very locally, and you may find towards the end of the next 13 years that petrol or diesel starts to become very expensive.

A good example that people are not being forced to go electric!

Lovely, but how does it affect the point DRM was suggesting? It sounds like you're pretty reasoned about it. Do you refer to your bought-new car as if it was a child?

Out of interest, is this just your opinion or based on verified facts?
