Are we being forced to go electric?

Google says approx 18% of the population are disabled; so potentially there is more than a "small number" who need a car, although this will be part-mitigated by free transportation services such as dial-a-ride provided by TfL.
DIsabled does not mean mobility impaired. 3% have automatic eligibility for a blue badge.
3) The elderly (that's also ~18% of the population) also get free transportation services, dial-a-ride, TfL and National rail services. However, that doesn't necessarily replace personal transport requirements; I don't know anyone who has given up their car when the received their freedom pass.
Do you live in London?
4) You acknowledge builders and plumbers needing transport, but not roofers, carpenters, floorers, electricians, architects, glaziers, landscapers, gardeners or any of the other trades. What about Doggy-day care, cleaners, hairdressers, podiatrists, etc? In fact, there are some 4 million self-employed workers who by definition have no fixed job, so might be more likely to need a car.
Yes, I didn't itemise every trade that might need a van. I was self-employed for years. I didn't need a car or a van.

6) Other social care and health care roles involve home visits; social workers, district nurses, health visitors, cancer nurses, midwives, and GPs. This requires transport.
No it doesn't. And if it does this is often a pool vehicle. Certainly the District Nurses in Lambeth and Southwark do not drive their own cars around from one street to the next. Nor do the Health Visitors or GPs. I worked with them for 15 years.

7) Driving jobs. Any job that involves driving a provided company vehicle (so bus drivers, taxi drivers, firefighters, police officers, paramedics, etc etc etc) - by definition they are already "drivers", so they probably already have their own car.
So you think that Lambeth Bus Garage has parking for employees, when they get free bus travel?

Considering all the above, even if there is overlap in the groups, I just can't accept your first line that I quoted.
Fair enough. You don't have to.

You do need a car for care work in the private sector. And drs / nurses / physios use their own cars round here - West Yorkshire (apart from 111 Dr cars)

I know of 2 that have blue badges and definitely need them, I think @CXRAndy has been reading too much of the Daily Mail, I am sure some are taking the micky, but it is probably a small minority.

If folk like I know can get a badge, then there is a very large minority taking the piss.

I know a London based accident claims lawyer, who tells me, the endless frivolous, fraudulent claims made which they have to filter through to see the genuine claims.

There is a huge albeit minority out to claim every little bit of extra benefits/insurance/badges.

It's a free for all.

And the costs of doing so, not just buying the car either.

Some used EVs are creeping into the market now. I had an email last night from CarWow with lots of used EVs. Yes, some were still expensive but a few were like the screengrab below.
Not too bad a price I thought? In London (and other ULEZ cities) this would also exempt from the daily charges levied.

Creeping into the market?
Then how did I buy second hand three years ago?

And I wasn't an early adopter by any means.

 I didn't say it was a bargain!

At £17k this puts it more into the territory of other used cars (ICE) so it makes it more accessible for those wanting to get an electric vehicle and not the £40k + we have seen discussed up thread.

17k is more than I have spent on the last 3 cars all together including running them for nearly 20 years .
