Are we being forced to go electric?

Tesla is releasing the Model 2 soon. Rumors suggest mid twenties for price. If they give it 200+ miles with all the nice features it will sell well

Trying to work out if that price is with the tax credit of $7500, if it does then that means it will hit the UK at about £33-35k ish. About the same as a Mini EV?

No chance the ID2 will be £20k seeing the price of the rest of the range - if it is then great. I fancy an Ami with stabilisers though !

I thought that but the last couple of articles I've read suggest it's possible.
22k is now the target but still hopeful of a sub 20k base model.

Not that outrageous - it's due to the two dangerous roads that pupils would have to use to get there. There are loads of safe private roads but they are all owned by the Burwood estate, home to multi millionaire footballers and pop stars and as such, closed to cyclists. Even the ancient rights of way have been closed off.

Can the footballers use these roads ?

Due to the raging popularity of EVs, prices remain very high and will likely for some years to come.

Once saturation point is reached, sales will decline and prices will inevitably fall.

By this time, discounts like zero VED will be gone. We will all be paying for driving in EVs

i think they are already in the pipeline ? yes 2025
From 1 April 2025, all electric car owners will be required to pay Band B VED, with the Band A rate of zero effectively removed.

Under 2023-2024 car tax rates, that means an annual cost of £10 in the first year and £180 in subsequent years. Electric car drivers who own a car with a list price of £40,000 or more will also pay the £370 premium car tax rate, which will take their yearly VED rate to £550 after the first year.

The new electric car tax rate will apply to cars first registered on 1 April 2017, which means it will be backdated to include millions of used EVs in the UK.

Anyone with a highly customised range rover, 7 figures in the bank and a pass card can use the roads... Not cyclists though (I asked and received short shrift).
