There have been over 70 cargo ship fires in the last 5 years, mainly caused by poor fire safety onboard and mis declared cargo cargo segr. You could hardly not declare an EV.

However your negative slant on all things electric comes to the fore

I notice they're comparing EVs to the weight of a Ford Cortina of 50 years ago.

I bet the ridiculous pick up trucks are pretty hefty too. Even without battery power.

Yep big SUVs certainly are mine is ! However you forget about batteries ! Even small cars are heavy !

1,580 to 1,731 kg that’s the weight of a Nissan Leaf ! Think my 2006 Honda CRV diesel was lighter ?

Even small petrol cars are not lightweight. And almost all medium sized modern cars weigh significantly more than that 1976 Cortina.

The difference between a petrol model and a similar electric model seems to be about 500Kg, looking at the Corsa (most basic petrol model 1050Kg, electric 1530Kg). Less for some vehicles - the Mokka is 1270/1598 for the most basic petrol/electric models. I suspect the larger the base car is, the smaller the difference between Petrol & Electric models.

My BMW 330D GT is 1800 kg 🤷‍♂️
Even ICE cars are a lot heavier than they were

More wear on tarmac possibly ? Tyres as well ? Mind you weight balanced differently on an EV .
No - less. Bigger tyres, better weight distribution and much better traction control - the car is controlling the acceleration even if you slam your foot down.
