Are we being forced to go electric?

Next time someone suggests numberplate on bikes I'm going to agree to green plates; the symbol of a brown hammer on ICE cars, to express their dirtiness and damage to kerbs and roads, and a big pale brown hammer on BEVs.

I find electric cars quite boring to drive, there's no engine sound1
Mine has a starwars like whine as you whack the accelerator to the floor and feel the G force... !

Our friend have got one, she's not getting on with it due to its short range, her heavy right foot.

She tears up and down the motorways, always last minute, so gets into a tizzy and has run out of juice already!

The car itself looks smart inside, but I didn't quite get the Chippendale style bow tie front grill-don't get it in white

the range is realistically 300 miles, I thought that wasn’t bad.

That quiet electric hum is one of the best things about EVs and hybrids. I won't miss noisy exhausts when they vanish from our roads.

So why does my neighbour's Kuga emit such wierd noises in electric mode? I've not heard anything like it from any BMW, Honda, Merc, Tesla or Ioniq5.

It's a wierdly modulating harmonic, as loud as an internal combustion engine when they manoeuvre in their drive. Maybe it's noise from the inverter/motor, although I've got a horrible suspicion it's like that "by design".
SImply dreadful, I'd be embarrassed to drive it.

To my mind, all EVs sound like the gentle hum from about 10-20 seconds in this clip from Woody Allen's "The Sleeper".

She's lucky to get 220 miles

She drives way faster than speed limits. It's the lack of charging and her last minute arrival for most events, that ruins the experience.

I did suggest Model S but again she wouldn't factor in some charging period

Not sure how true this is but just been reading an article where a non Tesla repair centre wanted to buy a new Tesla drive unit due to the old one failing , but it reads like you have to get Tesla to supply and fit.

Has anyone any experience of getting Tesla's repaired outside of the Tesla repair centres?
