Is it only ICE drivers that park next to the shops ? Personally ban ALL vehicles from city centres and major town centres. Also ban idling ! Surely that we can all agree on ?

Fuel prices at the pump will rocket, "road tax" will rocket . This will be the sticks they use to drive ICE's for domestic use off the road.

I very much doubt that, It would amount to political suicide for any party that brings that in.

Another could be a parking levy, already been used in Nottingham to assist the funding of the tram.

Unfortunately dumping parked cars on side streets away from the city centre, as their occupants got the tram in the rest of the way.

This is a very good point, during the Covid lockdown when nobody flew anywhere, to me it seemed that the air definately seemed clearer, and when in the countryside, long distance views seemed clearer and brighter, a little like comparing a standard TV picture, with a HD one

This is true, Bradford being a prime example, they penalise older vans/HGV's, yet let older diesel cars ride around carte blanche, I have heard various tradesmen who are hit by this refuse jobs there because by the time they've been in to price a job up, quote it, then say allow for how many days travel to complete, means it's not worth it, let alone getting anything delivered to site.

All the Arab petroleum states are hurriedly realigning there economy because they know what is coming and they wouldn't be doing that if supply was assured.

Also crude oil is a valuable feedstock for so many things that in a decade or two it will look silly to be burning it just to move a few miles.

Battery tech has already enabled the switch over to ICEs .

The writing has been on the wall for decades, no one can really be surprised.

I’m fairly confident I’ll still be filling up on diesel in 10yrs time and cost will be comparative . The view that everyone will driving around in an EV is only shared by those whom have bought into one! I’m sure I saw a news article that the UK may follow the current EU view that this race to dump ICE vehicles should be slowed down for time being says it all ! We are nowhere near ready !!

Seriously my EV cost no more than a similar ice vehicle and it's much cheaper to run and live with.

It's not the big deal you're making it out to be.

For someone who spends hours on the road each week you're making a song and dance over a 20 minute charge every few days.

But they do not travel the distance that motorhomes do. How long would it take to drive to Spain with a fully loaded motorhome. I very much doubt you will get anywhere near the claimed milage.
