Most people will charge at home. I haven't used a public charger in months.

Most people currently buying EVs.

With the aim being to remove ICE cars completely, there are many people around the country who will simply not have that option.

At this stage, most people who don't have that option won't be buying an EV, so yes, most of hose who do buy will be charging at home.

Yes, exactly. There are already people who cannot afford a car now, so try to wrap your head around how many MORE might be in that situation if cheap used EVs don't become as plentiful, as cheap, and as viable as used ICE cars are now.

That can only be a good thing as it will lead to less private vehicles on the road. So it's a win win situation for the environment.

You're great at finding reasons why EV's are a necessity even though you're trying not very hard to make the opposite point.

Not sure I‘d want a car from the Chinese government given the choice! Worse than Musk…don’t think he’s yet executed any dissident employees ;)

How many other things do you own that are from the Chinese government ? TBH anything bought in the last decade will be either made in or made from Chinese sourced components.

True but not from a company actually owned by the Chinese state.
It’s my choice not to buy an MG as I can buy from companies that aren’t owned by the Chinese state. As it’s your choice to buy an MG if you do choose

Nor would I buy a car from the Saudi, Iranian or Afghan state car manufacturer if such existed to name three (among many).

Ultimately all large companies in China are part owned by the Chinese state, especially so for non Chinese companies who are manufacturing or operating there.

I won't be buying an MG or any other marque of car , never have owned one and won't be owning one in the future.

But as the Mail says...
Indeed, who can forget the photos of snaking queues of desperate Tesla drivers waiting to re-charge their cars at service stations across the country?

Several people had to wait a bit at 4 different services during the busiest period over Christmas (presumably Christmas Eve). 24 people had to wait in a Waitrose in South Mimms on Christmas Day!

It's carnage I tell you!

Yes but I am fully aware that MG is therefore I can choose not to buy. It’ll be a number of years all being well before I buy a new car too

One EV advertised claimed that the battery life was about seven years on a 'depreciating level' implying a gradually shorter & shorter range.
On the basis that any decent ICE engine will last around 100k. miles / 10 years plus driving, that's not very reassuring when the battery pack may have to be replaced at whatever price in about 70k. miles of driving.
Would you be happy to need an ICE replaced after that short time - ?

Just imagine how much filth if pumped out by those 100k engines. ICE engines only run as clean as new for a short period of their lives and become increasingly more polluting as time goes on.

Therefore not having them on the road anymore is another gain.
