Are we being forced to go electric?

And in rural areas it's only about 17% of homes don't have access to off street parking.
When I lived in London I didn't have a car - it wasn't necessary with the public transport.
Are you seriously saying that until everyone in places like London can charge a car - we shouldn't make the change ? LOL.

From June 15, 2022. Any new residential buildings with associated parking must have access to electric vehicle charge points. So it's only ever going to become easier to use an EV.

London is an interesting snap shot of how things could be. It's got probably the most public transport coverage in the country, low emission zones etc, and still has the worst air quality.

The one at Craignure was not working and no idea if is currently working.
More chargers then residents?

More electric sockets than residents definitely.
Craignure car park has 2 chargers free.
Mull Community trust has one too - best ask them about theirs its not networked.
Isle of Mull hotel has a charger free as well.

The Craignure car park is 21 miles away as is the hotel and MCT. Time in that car park is restricted also. There are a couple in Tobermory and the last time I looked they were occupied by non electric cars.

I mean I can see three chargers on the North of Mull but I'm sure you'll have another reason for them not being suitable.
Do you have an electric socket or are you living on the 34th floor of the only block of flats in Mull ?

Half the properties if that maybe have a drive but mostly only for one car. Many households have more than one vehicle
You do know that the vehicles move? Just swap them round. You shouldn't need to charge all 8 of your EVs at your single driveway semi on the same night.

The majority (60%) of homes in larger towns and cities do not have access to off-street parking, and are thus unable to charge at home, even if the majority of properties, over the entirety of the UK, do have it. Where are the residents in these 60% of homes expected to charge their cars (especially as they naturally want to pay only at domestic or near-domestic rates)?
If they are living in a large town or city they don't need a car in the first place! Otherwise - lampposts, bollards etc as discussed.

You live in a large town…why do you need a car if others don’t?

Oh aye, never mind the disabled, tradesmen and others that may simply want to use their cars are they are legally allowed, the people in the towns whose rates pay for the roads, should walk, pedal etc so there is more room for those from out of town to drive instead of them coming on trains and busses.

And you expect the companies placing these chargers, on streets, to keep changing them?
Isn't it five different leads/connections in common use at the moment.
No. Pretty much everyone uses a Type 2 charger as it is now the standard. You can buy converters for Type 1 or a 3 pin plug.
I don't expect anything. I do acknowledge that there is a risk, as technology advances, that Type 2 will be superseded.
