It’s making a mockery of fair competition. Sooner all sports do what British Cycling has the better. Better not say any more or it’ll be shut down.

Yes, I was thinking that it may be a bit political Mo. However I think us runners can discuss it sensibly as most of the more vociferous members of the board don't really look at the running thread.

As a volunteer run event, with easy online registration, parkrun are likely to find it more difficult than most should they decide to follow the lead of British Cycling et al. It’s a very sensitive, and emotive, topic and I certainly wouldn’t want to be the parkrun volunteer having to challenge someone’s eligibility.

Cycled down on the Brommie to Upton House to marshal this morning's Junior parkrun. Such a joy to see the enthusiasm😁
Had a plum marshalling position looking out over Holes Bay with the steeple of the church on Poole Hight Street just visible over the water.

Another Park Run completed this morning, a bit slower than last week but felt "comfortable" at the end so must have paced myself better.

Strikingly low turnout compared to previous weeks, my cynical mind asks myself if some people have boycotted due to the current transgender row.

Half term innit. Lots of people gone away. I noticed that the Liverpool parkrun had over 600 runners though!

Yes, you are probably correct, on a slightly different topic on the Nextdoor App there is a right moan going on about cyclists on the path along the marshes past Nets Cafe.

Hello!

Trying to get back into running again and started this morning 04.30 with a rather modest jog around my local park, then across the golf course, before returning back through the houses in one big circle. It is a little bit hilly too.

It's my first run in a long time and I feel great now!

Welcome to the running section Doug. Any running achievement always gives me a lot more pleasure than a cycling one as I feel it is "all my own work" so to speak.

An eventful parkrun yesterday. It was Upton House parkrun's sixth anniversary, the nearest local parkrun in Poole was cancelled as " Race for Life " was going on in Poole Park, plus the event number was one in the Fibbonaci sequence ( There's a whole host of geekery for those who like the various challenges ). This confluence of events resulted in more than 600 runners instead of the usual 300. To celebrate the anniversary there was a Hawaian theme and loads of people brought cake🍰.
I started the run towards the back of the field, resplendent in Hawaiian shirt flamboyant socks and bright shorts, there was a bit of a logjam at the start as there's a sharp turn before a long downhill tree lined gravel track. As it started to thin out I put in a sprint and then managed to clip a tree root and faceplant - hard😮. There's always first aid at parkrun, and usually a doctor or nurse or two running. I was told later that as I lay there I was being tended by two Consultants, a GP, two nurses, a clinical specialist and a Police woman😎. They cleaned me up as they waited for the Ambulance to arrive, both knees badly grazed, elbows, hands, cheek, eyebrow, gravel rash, bruised ribs and v painful big toe which had smacked into the tree root, plus an " Impacted fracture of the upper Humerus " Poole A+E were great, Xrayed and arm out in a sling made bearable by a couple of Paracetamol, 5ml of Oromorph and a few blasts of N02. They sent me home with a bottle of Oromorph to be taken as and when. The sling is a bit convoluted, my arm has to have the hand up close to the good shoulder to allow the weight of the arm to pull at where the bone was jammed together, so I've improvised using
a couple of the many Buff type neck tubes that I've accumulated over the years, one around my neck, with a second one looped through like a chain, much more comfortable👍.
Here's yesterday's run 😉

Bugger, that's not so good Kev. Hope you mend quickly.

I don't like running on rough ground now as I trip very easily so stick to the roads or well surfaced trails.

Thanks Mo, it will take a while to regain my confidence, especially off road,. In further developments, as I mentioned, the sling is a convoluted Velcro affair and not at all intuitive, using the two Buffs is much better. I think Ros is trying to wind me up. She says that she has an old Sports Bra that has lost its support, but if the snips one of the shoulder straps off then I could use it as an impromptu sling 🤔 If I fall for that one i could see the camera coming out and her using it as a bargaining chip next time we have a difference of opinion!
