I've just been reminded of bit of a long Mike Harding one that I'll summarise and no doubt ruin for anyone that's had the pleasure of the original.
A coachload of Americans are on a "see Britain in a day" trip, and they go to Rochdale, to get an idea what Britain was like in the 1800's.
While there, one American see's a little old man, sat on his doorstep rolling small pellets in his hands.
"What you making" asks the American
"Learning Pills" says the man, "they make you reet clever".
Of course the American buys some, and follows the instructions given, by putting a big handful into his mouth and swilling them around.
In no time, he's gagging and spitting them out. "aaargh, that's sheep sh*t" says the American
"Aye...., yer learning" says the man.
