I don’t get the horse and donkey one either.

Just like a train whistle is higher pitched (increase frequency) coming towards you and lower pitched when receding.

Distant galaxies have their light "redshifted" ie they look redder than they should which indicates they are rushing away from us - which indicates the universe is expanding and suggests the original "big bang" at the beginning of the universe. Red light is low frequency and blue is higher frequency so blueshifted stars are coming towards us.

(technically expansion of the universe is subtly different from doppler shift but let's not get into that here)

When I saw it I thought maybe it’s “doppler related” but I still don’t get the “joke” aspect.

Thank you for the explanation, I read all the words, I understood them all, I even got them in the correct order, but I still have no idea what you said.:eek:
