But ours did not have the MGB engine - it had an almost identical engine to the one in our previous Austin Cambridge.

Never had a Marina but had an MGB GT with steel bumpers and an Austin Cambridge A60.
Fortunately I had tame welders available and I also learned to weld metal almost like tinfoil as they both attracted rust but particularly the MGB.
The A60 had a head on {not our fault} with a Cortina and pushed its engine in around the driver's feet. New wing cost me about £20 and bonnet 2 bottles of whisky and after straightening the bent chassis it was as good as before the bump. Insurance paid cash to me and I made a profit.
