But actually of course yyyy/mm/dd (or even yyyymmdd) is best
WRONG, because dd and mm can be confused (see above) hence DDD e.g. JAN FEB etc rules supreme, like a chicken.
I have never seen anybody use yyyy/dd/mm, so no confusion.
Those formats are the norm in computer usage, because it makes < and > comparisons work.
