There is, of course, a standard.

The International ISO standard ISO 8601 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601

YYYY-MM-DD (eg today is 2023-08-14) is the standard notation.

It can be extended to include times eg 2023-08-14T21:03:27

If you use this format in filenames, then they are automatically sorted when you view the list on your computer.

However, the nice thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from. If you don't like this one, I'm sure you'll be able to find a rival...

Having spent a large chunk of the day trying to get a fix from Micro$oft (UK format date in Excel spreadsheet changes to US format in Edge and Chrome but Firefox is OK, despite all settings being for UK) I come on here for a bit of light relief and get this thread!

Anyway - ISO format rules; all my files are prefixed as such and sit nicely in order in their respective folders.

"They were an American rock band formed in Las Vegas in 2001. Led by frontman Brandon Flowers, they achieved mainstream success through hit albums such as "Hot Fuss" and singles like "Mr Brightside" & "Somebody Told Me and Human".
"I see", I said to the witness, jotting it down in my notepad and surveying the murder scene. "But that's not what I meant when I asked who 'The Killers' were.'
