A pavement parking odyssey

Enforcement is widely ignored, pedestrians are left to struggle around these obstructions and drivers care only about their own convenience. What's needed is something like the Catclaw:

Yes, it has obvious drawbacks but something that turns the tables on selfish drivers is long overdue.
(And don't have a heart attack, it's just a concept to provoke discussions on pavement parking, not a real product.)

Heck, that's a bit extreme. Have they thought about how long that obstructive vehicle will be there while the owner gets someone to come out to repair/replace the popped tyres?🤔

Yes, hence my reference to “obvious drawbacks”.

Now, if it could be adapted in such a way that the tyre only deflated after returning to the road...

Parking is appalling near my house. People think parking diagonally on corners, obstructing dropped kerbs & leaving your vehicle about 3ft off the kerb almost in the junction is acceptable. Time to really clamp down & toughen up the driving test. It annoys me that almost 100% drivers today automatically mount the pavement to park. Bloke did it in front of me the other day as I waited outside my local shop to cross the road. Straight up onto the pavement, rolled towards me stopping about 5ft away. what if his foot slipped on the accelerator?. He looked at me as if to say 'what the hell are you doing here?' as my presence meant he couldn't park as close to the shop door as possible. Have witnessed people actually driving completely onto the pavement with all four wheels since the lazy feckers can't be bothered to park legally:cursing:.

Last year a nearby main road was closed for a few days while the gas board dug a hole and then cleared off and left it unattended before teturnjng a week later to fill it in again, and people used our village as a shortcut.

It was carnage, as in places the road through isn't wide enough for opposing traffic streams to pass simultaneously. No matter, the outgoing traffic stream would simply drive along the footway instead, and entire stream of trafic pn the pedestrian path for several hours

I reported it to Poshshire Plod who sent a PCSO, who has no powers with regard to traffic offences anyway (unless being directed by a constable). Despite me making it plain it was a rush hour issue they turned up at lunchtime, could see no problem at that moment, and were never seen again.

In the end I took matters into my own hands. Id take the dog out for a walk and deliberately stood for half an hour at the dropped kerb the fools were using to mount the footway, thus preventing them from doing so. I was getting some evil daggers, but no one called me out on it because they all knew they shouldn't be doing it.

I've done the 'faffing with mobile phone' routine down in Bristol centre, obstructing the dropped kerb, because lazy oiks love to drive up & park here:

This photo was taken literally days after the Heras fencing came down & the newly completed grassed are was open to the public. Annoyed me that motorists created so much mess, ruined the new turf. A week after, I chatted with a policeman down here who was handing out parking fine notices. The area now has more cycle stands, which should have been strategically arranged to prevent pavement parking, but hey-ho. Some motorists still do drive up the dropped kerb here in defiance of the no parking signs. Not possible now though, construction site as the tower is being de-cladded.

And there is a massive parking facility at Cabot Circus nearby. Lazy people don't want to pay for parking.

There is a road near here that is shared use due to the road being busy but drivers insist on parking all four wheels on the pavement. I do not feel any guilt scraping along the length of the vehicles with panniers full or towing trailer if they leave no room to get by by cycle, wheelchair.

Fail to see the link between the two?

Well, here's the massive car park relative to Cabot circus & they have a connecting glass 'tunnel in the sky' so motorists can walk into the shopping centre without getting wet. However, you have to pay for the parking, those who don't want to because its too much cost/hassle like to park for free where my photos were taken. So yes, lazy because they expect free lunches all the time. Probably too much effort to get cash/credit card out of the wallet:okay:

Look at this example of totally inconsiderate twat parking! :cursing: This object was parked up,in view of my kitchen window for 6 whole hours yesterday! What's he/she given us pedestrians to play with? About 4 inches, judging by the first photo i'd say. The git didn't even have the courtesy to put the wing mirrors in to give us another inch or so. I took these photos in full view of him who owns the MOT centre,in the bottom photo. I was dying for him to challenge me,but he didn't.
