Was the northern loop an audax or tour? Went over some nice terrain either way.

Yes, Summertime Blues 400 audax on 22-23 June, starting at York and turning round at Castle Carrock, near Carlisle. Absolutely wonderful ride, despite my having to climb up to Yad Moss at 2am on only two gears after a cable snap.

I have a story to tell about trying to change gear cables the next day without cable cutters, and the joys of internal cable routing, but I'll leave that till another time (or year) 🫤

My highest year ever, on 9620 miles / 15482 km, which beats my previous best of 9596 miles in 2019 by just 24 miles, but some way (by 500-1000 miles) above my general average on most years.

the joys of internal cable routing

Surely they should call it infernal cable routing? I am sticking with bar end friction shifters and external cables (fairly full length cable outers). Less likely to fail and replacing cables is a quick job.

You speak the truth. Suffice to say that I now have a long length of cable housing strung along the outside of that internally routed frame (and that it works just as well).

Cycling miles are only 959.75. That's more than in the last 5 years though, and only started riding again in the summer. Will have to up this dramatically next year, doing LeJog in August. Walking miles slighty up at 1446, running miles slightly down at 175. Hardly ran for the first 3 months due to calf and then chest problems. Overall very happy, not bad for 67

A year of two halves, January to June going well, then July to December hit by Covid, bad weather, a bit of knee pain, more bad weather, etc.
But not bad overall.

2616 miles on the main bike (Spa Wayfarer), probably a couple of hundred on another. I hope to get back above 3000 next year with a few more commuting miles likely and a nice NL trip planned too.
