Just dropped out after lap and half. Right knee clicking and resonating up to hip !:laugh:
Rode first lap largely out of saddle to see if would settle down Contador style and got a pb on KOM but couldn't keep that up and knee getting a little disconcerting so will save myself for Thursday. No pain and not the little click I get with right knee. Off to gently stretch and roll.

I thought you disappeared quickly. I was the D Smith in the front group of the C's. Ended up winning by two mins, probably be DQ'd though.

You seemed to start well and were on/off my screen through the first lap -- I think the little group I was in was consistently around a minute behind. I wasn't sure the size of your group, but figured it was larger than ours given my slow start today. Somewhere shortly after the first lap it looked like you got spat out the back.

You latched onto our group for a bit, then took off the front at some absurd 5w/kg again. Wasn't sure what that was all about so I stuck with the group. Then you faded and disappeared. I figured you'd had a mechanical.

We had around a half-dozen through to the start of the 3rd KOM climb. Hovde got away around that time. I faded off the back of the group, but was able to keep in touch and latch back on. Got a bit of a gap as we went through the esses, mostly by accident, so I didn't push it too hard and was reeled prior to the final KOM. Elder go away at that point IIRC and Shiels caught us from behind and got away as well. I fell off again, but was able to catch Treadway and Cornelisson before the downhill. Thought Treadway and Cornelisson were going to get away, but I was able to hold and let them do the work. I went for it about 200M out, past both and was able to hold on for the moral victory. Just about passed out on the bike after that.

We were 1-37 ahead at one point before I slowed. That absurd 5wkg was a somewhat frustrated last ditch out of the saddle attempt to shake the click in the knee spurred on a bit by sight of the bridge. Pointless really but I was pretty fed up.
Jeff, You were holding good consistent power throughout and not losing much on the ascents. Sounds like you had. A great ride. It's a tricky course because I just cannot get into a rhythm but I do love the ups and downs and the way the NEO grabs and then let's go of the resistance and the need to pay attention to stay with a group.

I haven't looked at the data yet, but I was trying to save a bit for the KOM climb each lap and trying to carry momentum forward through the little bumps -- I suspect the KickR and NEO are similar in how they respond to that section.

In theory the KOM is short enough that I ought to be able to select whatever wattage I want up to around 275W and just go for it. It's well within what I can do for 2-3 minutes.

Got on the turbo this am just to check my knee and...no loud clicking. WTF. Just gone.

I remember how easy it was to carry momentum on my pro but with the NEO if i miss time and i am in the wrong gear i can find myself trying to push 4-5w/k just to crest a rise:rolleyes:

Looking at your stats I reckon you are right. But you ran at an average of about 310w with peaks and drops and i reckon you could probably hold at least 300 plus the whole length especially with a higher cadence. HR was low so more in the tank perhaps, as was cadence.
