Had a few rides on zwift and I love it as I'm so slow on the roads I feel like a danger currently.

But I'm so confused, apparently there are lots of different settings, or locations but all the options for me are limited it London, I'm cool with that it how do I access the other places?

Thanks all

The course changes every couple of days. I'll post the schedule when I'm home. But I think it shows in the bottom right of the start ride screen.

Soo, that was fun.

Only the second race I've managed to do, so I've still got a lot to learn about drafting and sticking with the pack. I was really late getting on, didn't have a proper warm up, and was still doing the fasteners on my shoes up as the hammer went down, so I got spat out the back really quickly.

Managed to catch back on, and was trying to keep into the draft of the last few riders, but they were quickly getting separated from the front, and I didn't want to lose touch. Managed to bridge up to a small group ahead and worked with them for a lap trying to close down a few of those ahead, we caught a couple, but there was still a large gap of a minute and half to the next big group. Again pushed hard and made my way over to the next group and stuck with them for a bit I had to keep going off the front though as they weren't making inroads into the next group ahead.

Picked out one guy who was about 40seconds ahead, and managed to close him down to around 20seconds by 2km from the end of Lap 4, when I saw that his next marker was J Law, 1.56 ahead of me. On the basis that this was J Law from this forum, I buried myself from 1km from the end of Lap 4 and got to within about 20seconds by the end of the race.

Was good, but I really need to work hard on not getting pushed to the back so early on and on my starting technique and stay with the lead / B group. If I do that then should be able to get a respectable finish.

I'm guessing you're Simon Chambers?

Yea, that was me plodding along ahead of you. FWIW, the Mon KISS races are usually considerably weaker than the Tue/Thu KISS races... Good opportunity to practice a strong start and drafting.

I stuck with the lead group for the first lap or so, then fell off the pace into no-mans land. Thankfully Francisco came along and towed me around for quite a while. It was kind of brutal. He'd hit the gas every time we came up to a slower rider/group and I'd be flat out just trying to get back on his wheel (this race was on an open course, so we had all the randoms riding around). When he finally shook me for good with about 2 miles to go I looked around, nobody was close so I didn't go too hard the last couple miles. Just enough to make sure I wasn't in danger of getting caught. Turns out Francisco's a B rider, so no wonder I was red lining the whole time he towed me around.

Given your w/kg I suspect you'd be out in front of the C races if you were ready to go from the start and drafted aggressively rather than constantly having to jump from group to group.

May need to rest the legs tomorrow -- even though I took it slow up Little C Sunday morning I can still feel the pain. I can't recall tomorrow's course other than it had significant climbing work which is just painful to contemplate right now.

Yeah that's me, clues in the name I guess  I figured that todays would be good to practice racecraft, so I'm glad it worked out that way. The course also suited me quite well, being very flat, as I'm a heavy rider, but I can put out a decent amount of power, in all fairness I'm probably closer to cat B than cat C, but until I've learnt how to race I'm not going to subject myself to a race at that level.

The rider I was chasing down was the second cat B rider Dennis, after I overtook him I did start to get a bit worried that he was pushing 4.5w/kg, but he wasn't catching me so I figured he was putting out fewer watts, turns out he was 20kg lighter than me :laugh: I reckon I'd have caught you though if I'd had another km or so. Still very happy with that result.

Probably not going to do tomorrows race, will do a training session instead most likely.

I am going to try but work commitments may make it difficult to make today's Kiss race. I will try but will need a warm up too given the frantic pace at the start.

I'm thinking I might try do do the same as my plan for last night, go steady and try to stay with a group. See how that works out though. Depends a lot more on Mrs C than me tbh.
