Guys I was just thinking if we could set up a TT for a stage of our little league.

Would it be possible do you think, to select a particular strava segment in Watopia for example that we could all do at any time on a TT bike? As the TT bike doesn't draft there would be no benefit or penalty from doing it within an organised race or not.

So, the question is, what would be a suitable segment that we would pass through if we start riding on a particular Watopia course?

In fact we could even set up one of those "meet-ups" and do it all together (well, whoever can make it) - just need to be riding TT bikes and know roughly where the segment starts and ends.

Any ideas what might work??
Could do something like this ..... https://www.strava.com/activities/2136799285/segments/53943827466

Each lap is about 4.08 km so we could agree a 10 lap race course. There is about a 2 km run in, we can include that too in the race. Warm up outside the course, then when ready to race choose the volcano loop. There is a loop counter so we will know when we've finished.

I have a one idea. 1 lap watopia flat forward or 1-lap volcano flat. Because we don't know where the Zwift drop us in a map when we log in, i will suggest 1 warm-up lap before the actual lap.

Your gearing gives you about 2.5mph extra for same cadence. Mine is 42/17. Im not too concerned with speed, just the simplicity/ ease of maintenance and can take little knocks and wont get damaged. Its a shopper bike- the shame:blush: ^_^

Here is the bike View attachment 453074

Nice!

Love the colour. Yeah speed isn’t my main priority either. You just find yourself going at the speed the conditions dictate. Trying to fight against that can be very counter productive! I don’t even have a speedo attached to the bars.

Ditto, no records of rides, just bike and me

Something very different about it isn’t there? Although there’s no such thing as the perfect gear ratio for an undulating course unfortunately. I cycled most of the way to Brighton and felt pretty beat up afterwards. With the fixed gear it was more of a challenge going down hill than going up sometimes.

No wonder you were beaten up, the gearing you've got is for pretty flat terrain. There be hills south of London ^_^

It's London gearing, for flying around the flat streets and Regents Park

I used to commute home to South East London on my 69 inch (42/16) gearing. Up past Dulwich College, Gypsey hill, Sydenham Hill, Beckenham Hill etc without too much trouble. None particularly steep or long and not the same as Box or Keith, but they are some of the steepest in London. I wouldn't have gone higher gearing - even now I'm fitter and lighter I still wouldn't unless I was racing.

Looks like @Norry1 had a cracking time last night in a race. Another podium but with w/kg of only 2.8  Why is it when I race I need 3.1 just to get top 10? ha ha, I need to try to choose my races better

Maybe rivals rides fast as it's necessarily. If someone start to speed up in a race then rivals probably thinks okay that's fine by me . Actually i think very often it's exactly like that

In this location where i live i am not sure if people know what the word hill and mountain means , in that point of view Zwift is answer to my wet dreams. It brings hills and mountains to my bathroom what is my pain cave . In a summer i have to satisfy flat routes irl.
That's a bit like here, it's a 15 mile ride out across pan flat terrain to the Forest of Bowland, which introduces a few hills (350-400m of climbing at 7-15%), followed by a 15 mile ride back ... Of course it's always a headwind coming back, so I count that as 15 miles of climbing  I know when my boss was training for the Mallorca 314, he used to go out and do 'Jubilee Hill' (*) 6 times ... but that was only a total ascent of around 1200m!!! so Zwft and BRVR is my answer to getting fit enough to be able to do long routes (200+km) with lots of climbing (4500-5500m of ascent).

(*) Jubilee is in the 100 Great Climbs book, well one way up is, and deservedly so ... In fact I think I have a video of the route in BKool, which takes two of the three possible routes up (The two hardest), making for a nice ride after work, although it's a good idea to warm up properly before doing so, as it's straight into climbing.

About headwind Finnish Eurosport bicycle commentator Peter Selin gived good advice. When you are bicycle ride and headwind is coming back, good idea is ride little bit further from junction and return back with tailwind. Don't follow that all the time but it might leave better feeling for that ride.

It was a 38 mile race and over 90 minutes. It was a bit weird racing mainly below threshold. There were 23 C riders and the selections took it to 17, 13, 10, 8 and the 8 stayed together to the final half mile to the finish line.

Did the FTP step ride today. Up until today my race FTP is about 252, my 20 mins FTP was also 252. On the step test today I managed 265 (I got to 10 seconds into the 345 segment, completed 100% of the 320 watt segment). It was certainly a hard test. Will probably do this each month or so to keep testing progress.

The actual 2.5 minute step segments for me were ....

Watts
147
171
196
220
245
270
295
320
345

As I say, I completed segment 320 watts, and snuck 10 seconds into 345.
