I'd forgotten how steep and long the hills were, lost the front group and rode with one fella until he crushed me on the last 3 bumps. If I'd gone full bore over the first lap, I might of just been able to hold onto the leaders, but it was a shock to the system, good race, pleased with the result overall.
I like Richmond as there isn't much down hill to rest as it's all peddling great for racing.

My usual tactic, get near the front, try and stay with pace changes and see how it looks at half way. The 3 hills pretty much stretched the pack so far apart that 7,8 formed a front bunch and I was left in the middle. I fought hard to tag onto another rider, where we rode together. I think he was toying with me because he had the ability to drop off my pace and then easily come back. That was the case, he went for it on the last set of hills and overtook at least 3/4 riders who were 30 seconds ahead of us. I could see Dean coming strong with huge watts I'm the last climb:okay: saved something for the finish

I had forgotten how good and fun zwift races are.

A large lead group quickly got formed which Andy and Jeff was in and was making ground quickly, I decided to not waste energy trying to chase the faster group so i stayed with a group of a round 6.
We all worked well and making ground on a few stragglers from the first group we came to the first hill and it broke down slightly but managed to re-form, still putting out decent watts and came to the second hill and quickly realised I was the strongest rider (obviously).

I pushed on and could see Jeff and gaining on him we joined up and helped each other, although I could tell he was struggling so eased off every now and then, we came to the first big hill the red mist came down and forgot about Jeff for a second or to but he was about 11 seconds down so I pushed on hard sorry Jeff.
Making good ground and catching up with a few riders the very last hill near the finish is where I had to push hard and dig deep as I had 2 riders that I attacked on that hill trying to get me but was able to keep them at bay with 6 seconds to spare.

Great racing and great riding with you Jeff
The lead group was reasonably large and seemed to have some folks that were happy to pull the rest of us along, so it was moving fairly quickly. I saw Andy and a few non-cyclechat folks that I recognized. I totally mis-judged those hills at the end of the lap -- if I'd looked more closely I would have realized the 2nd group was a better match for me on that ride.

By the end of the 3rd hill, you were only ~30seconds behind, so I tried to set a steady pace, recover a bit and wait for you to catch up. I was very thankful for the tow and tried to pull when I could... A couple times I ramped up to pull, but couldn't pass you...

Don't worry at all about dropping me on the hill -- I was hoping you'd seen the massive drop in w/kg as a signal that I was toast and that you should carry on at whatever pace worked for you.

I did notice a leader board didn't pop up after the race, will have to check the results
Yea, I don't know the rhyme or reason for when the leaderboard pops up -- I've never seen it for a KISS race, but certainly have for others.

It does seem like the KISS races are closed course now -- the last few have been racers only.

That is good, re closed group races. you're not confused about who is in the race. its quite noticeable the drop off in speed from pack to solo riding.

I will have to remember that when it comes to choosing my races ^_^ Flat and long not so good for my weedy power but nice and lumpy sounds good.

Flat for me  Would like to have done the race last night - but it didn't fit. Generally need to race around 6.30 in the week other than Tuesday when I can do the 8pm provided I'm not working away or late.

My surprising higher w/kg in the last race mean I'm a bit concerned any more improvement will force me into the B category where I'll get smoked on a regular basis.

Crit style races may be your strength. I am going to try and race Tuesday and Thursday but will give priority to lumpy or hilly races. A 3 sisters race would be just perfect.

The guys who do crits at our club say its 500W+ out of the corners again and again with FTP efforts joining corners together They say newcomers last one or two laps before getting dropped, but by the end of a season are still on the lead lap at the end-albeit still dropped

Yup. Though I must admit to taking a tows from randoms after getting dropped. But I definitely think closed races are a good thing. More incentive to ride through the pain and lack of oxygen and stay with the group.
