Tenerife Bike Training Volcano Tour-completed:hyper:

I had a great week, the weather has been perfect @25°C . Ridden 280+ miles with over 30,000ft of climbing. There were 21 riders to meet, some familiar faces, lots of new friends. I completed the tour, but only just with a blowout after hitting pothole on final descent. Tyre would you only hold 25psi or so, but I managed to complete the last few miles culminating in a 1 mile @ 20% climb.

Celebrating tonight:cheers:

Doing the Kiss Base ride at 5 tonight. 87km but I'll only be riding for about 90 mins so only about 50km. Anyone else fancy this? Recovery ride for me, so looking for a group at about 2.5 w/kg

Had a good race yesterday. I did the 5.30 Afternoon Tea Race which was 3 laps of the Innsbruck Ring.

Got a decent start and with the lead group. Hit the little hill quite hard, used my feather and was surprised to find myself in a breakaway of 5 riders which became 7.

The gap grew slowly until we had about 40 seconds. I lost the wheel at one point and unusually for me, fought hard for a few minutes and got back on.

On the last lap I couldn't stay with the fastest guys and they got away. I tempo'd the last couple of miles just keeping the chasing group at bay.

I was 5th over the line I think but officially second. I was pleased with the result and it was one of the most enjoyable races for a while.

Well done Martin, cracking ride :okay:

I looked at this ride and was tempted but I convinced myself I was going to do a slowish ride so in the end avoided the race. Had I known you was joining that I would have been there with you.

Instead I did the Kiss Base, but this was a B Cat base so I was slightly (over entirely!) out of my depth. I got dropped from the main blob after about 4 mins, but ended up with a group of 5 pushing 250 watts (3.2+ w/kg). We rolled and picked up stragglers from the main group and this little band grew to about 10 riders. I was on my limit but managed to last 20 minutes at this pace when I finally popped. I then rode for a further 30 mins with the one other rider who also popped and in the end, over 52 mins, averaged 224 w/kg. The ride was 87km but I only completed 30 odd kms, but I had things I needed to do so knew I wouldn't have time to ride the full distance.

Not easy holding 250 watts for 20 mins, but I'm getting stronger and managing to hold this power for longer. Onwards and upwards

Wow 224 w/kg - that is Porche standard

250W for 20 mins is tough. Nice one. :okay:

I'm working on training sessions where I can extend the time I can hold 250 watts at the start of a ride. The longer I can hold this power, the longer I can stay in a fast group, the faster time I can get. Would love to be able to hold this for 60 mins .... still some work to do to get there though  Had I not done the 1hr 45min Purple Unicorn the day before I may have been able to hold the group longer last night - not sure how much longer though.

Can't ride today as have guests due. Will be back on the bike Sunday :training:

Not long finished the WBR 5 laps of the jungle circuit a tough race, legs were all ready aching from my 8 mile run this morning but quite pleased with my performance managed to stay with my group of twelve all the way to the end where everyone racked up the pace 1.5 miles from the finish so only just hung on.

Last session of week 2, of 4, FTP builder done. Only the optional one left. Will do that tomorrow morning.

49% of the Everest challenge completed. Nearly 300km done on Zwift. Getting back into the swing of riding 4 or 5 times a week. Legs are starting to get better. I can hold power a little more consistantly. Still having trouble holding z4 pwr and >90-95 cadence at the same time though. Howerever I can hold that combo longer now.

Zwifts workouts and training plans are a big improvement over Bkools. You Zwift workout counts toward several things not just the workout.

Onwards and upwards :bicycle:
