If the snout and tail were in a line, with the snout pointing @Whorty, it probably would have from that range 0 to max speed is about a second  :headshake:
Ah, but then I wouldn't be standing where I was. It was well judged that I was outside lunging distance :becool: She was quite relaxed around us; not that I would have been near the water if she was in it as her instinct would have taken over, but on land she was happy basking and ignoring us.

Had a good race tonight. Was hoping to see @Freelanderuk in race but he vanished in warmup (what happened Chris? I see your result in the race - spooky!).

Hard out the blocks I managed to work and hold high enough watts to latch on to a group up the first kicker. Then stayed with this group of maostly B's and fast C's until the 21km mark. Just before crossing the start line for a 2nd time I lost the back wheel and didn't have the legs to get back on. I could see the next group a minute behind; they seemed to be going well so I knew I had to get over the coming lumps before they caught me, then I'd have a chance to hang on for the final 6 or so km of flat. They caught me on the sprint bridge, so just the one little lump to hang on then I was all good ..... thankfully I had it in my legs. Once that was out the way it was just a matter of keeping enough watts and holding position in the blob to make it to the end. I had nothing left for the sprint, but as there was only one other C in the group that didn't bother me too much.

Came 9th out of 30 odd in ZP. Ave 240 watts over 46 minutes so not bad. 20 mins power of 256 watts, 5 mins at 277 watts. The workout sessions are definitely paying off. At times tonight the legs were feeling tired but I was able to dig in, concentrate on pedal stroke and recover.

Really enjoyed that :okay:

Emma Pooley overhauling Robinson from cyclechat!
I wondered if that was the 'real' Emma Pooley who swept past me at the bottom of the climb. I bet she's at least 30Kg lighter than me!

Pretty pleased with my first attempt of the Alpe, I took it steady (as I do itrw), keeping my HR constant, the power only dropping off with about a third of it left. Didn't realise @bridgy was so close to me at the end (only 9 secs back!).

I passed you with I think about 1.5km to go but I was in the process of cramping really badly in my left calf! So we yo-yo'd a couple of times with you passing me when I had to stop due to the cramp. I was ahead of you until a couple of hundred metres to go and then I cramped again and literally had to get to the line pedalling with one leg! Not ideal, but the first half was fun! Well done @peterob - who else was there?

I was there up to a point .
Got into a good group of B's doing 3.5/4 w/kg and strangely felt quite good and dare I say it strong, got to the base of the climb and doing a steady 4 w/kg going up and making good progress still feeling good but about 2 miles in I was starting to struggle and couldn't maintain a good pace so bailed.
I was going to take some pasta to work for dinner but never got round to making it

I'm struggle with energy levels at the moment which isn't helping so need to sort something out in that regard.

I see your result as 8th , you flew past me at start like a bat out of hell , I was at the start on the trainer and the next thing I new there was 3 seconds to the off and it caught me by surprise , i managed to join a group with a few b riders in it but on the last lap they dropped me i then tagged on to a few c riders till the line came 23rd out of 34 ,2mins36 secs behind you , mind you it didn’t help that I had a puncture on the last lap^_^^_^
