So I do not need their special SW to upgrade the firmware ... just the app on my iphone ?

On more thing ... read about issues on the tacx neo and long derailleurs - is that special to just mountain bikes ? My road bike is shimano 105 end to end. Nothing special
I believe @Aleman has it right.

I bought a Neo this year. I've installed the Tach App on my iPhone which allows you to upgrade the Neo firmware and carry out diagnostic checks.

The only Tacx software I'm aware of is their Sim, which is as @Aleman describes. I haven't used my 30 day trial yet, but will probably do so this winter.

Anyone racing today?
Not me.

Rode 58 miles in the Real World today.

It's strange out there. Leaves and slippy road surfaces everywhere!

Buy the Neo, Use Zwift or your sim of choice, Ignore Tacx's offering ... which you get a month of free anyway ... You only need the app to upgrade firmware IIRC.

The only thing you may need to buy is an ANT+ or Bluetooth Dongle if you don't have one already

...and a new cassette, unless you have a spare already.

I've got 12% off of the core on my wiggle account. You may want to recheck

I got a deal which was far too tempting to turn down. Im not regretting the purchase, yet, because it was exceptional deal. If Wahoo dont sort out tbe issues i might jump ship to Tacx.

Now just need it on the Climb :bravo:

Although the news from the garage was that the turbo is farked, If I want to go down the warranty route they have to take it off, send it to be inspected (dismantled) and if they don't accept the claim (which is what has happened in the past), it get returned in bits which can't be reassembled ... the other oute is to fork out £3 grand for a new turbo ... Remind me why I bought the MANUFACTURERS extended warranty again??

No new trainer  and no new bike  for the foreseeable future

special pricing for neo 2017 model ... but they all say that in order to use with pc/windows I need to spend another 200 Euro roughly for Tacx SW ?

Is this really true ? If so, it seems to be a Neo/Tacx thing only as I have not seen this for other trainers.

(I do NOT intend to use iphone/ipad ... always laptop in from of me)
Nope no need whatsoever for the Tacx Software, But you do need the Tacx utility app on your phone to update the firmware on the Neo

Garages are robbing barstewards. Turbos dont cost that much. Is this a diesel car, probably clogged up with soot ffrom the engine recirc. We git rid of our last diesel last year and it was a low mileage vehicle and gone back to petrol and now electric. In fact we have put 12k miles in 6 months on the electric car and hardly use the petrol vehicles, less than a thousand over the same period

Well work has scuppered all attempts to get on the turbo this week, now the weekend weather looks rough, I might just go out anyway and get wet, either that or a couple of hours on the turbo Saturday morning.
Same as that mate. Haven’t rode anything since Monday. (Doesn’t include wife that’s a lot longer )
Going to catch up on a workout tonight see how that goes

It’s definitely getting grizzly out there! I tried to go out this morning but I gave up after a few miles. Seriously lacking enthusiasm at the moment . Might try again tomorrow.

Carl I must admit I have been thinking more about doing Cambridge on the fixed gear. I’m enjoying riding it so much at the moment. I don’t even put strava on most the time which is very liberating

Yeah, diesel Rav4, need a car with the drivers seat at hip height because of the bad back so limited options. I don't do the miles to warrant a diesel, and it's now mostly town driving so hybrid makes sense. Love the Hybrid RAV but not at the monthly cost, The outlander PHEV is a great car, and I can get a good deal through work, then saw a deal on the Clubman Electric initially discarded out of hand, but given circumstances, it might well be an idea to jump at it even though I can't really afford it 'til Feb. I've got Toyota customer services on the case so I'm still hoping for a result ... Might visit my local Mini dealer tomorrow.

If it wasn't for the fact that my wife is recovering from abdominal surgery, and we need to be able to get over to the stables to sort her horse out every day I'd say shove the car and use the bikes .. work is less than a 3 mile commute for each of us.
