Vid on wifi mesh at home looks interesting although spendy

View: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AwX1HkuSrY4

I use the BT Whole Home Mesh. Haven't looked at reviews recently, but it did well back in 2017 and was certainly cheaper than Google.

It's been an improvement on my previous WiFi set-ups, although I sometimes have to reboot it. Haven't found the root cause, but I suspect its some interaction between the router and the primary WiFi disk.

You don't have to be a BT customer to buy the BT Whole Home solution. Virgin are my ISP.

Well, further issues with my BKool Pro while playing with my first Zwift workout last night. This is the Zone Benchmarking workout which is basically a 10 minute warm up, followed by 5 minutes at Zone1, 2 Minutes Free ride, 4 Minutes Zone 2, 2 minutes free, 3 minutes zone 3, 2 minutes free, 2 minutes Zone 4, 2 minutes free, 1 minute zone 5. 2 minutes free. Here is Zwifts Trace

I was finding it really difficult to keep the power constant ... considering that Zwift was supposed to be in ERG mode for each of the Zone workouts, and then normal mode for the free riding. Usually when in ERG mode the trainer keeps the power within +5 of what is set, unless you really put the hammer down, but even then it eventually responds and drops the power to what was set. Usually power is a straight line (more or less). Taking a closer look at the Zone 3 Effort (180W) Its all over the place, Spikes of 250-260W and then dropping to 130-140W
bkoolpowerzone3.png

It was after this interval that I decided to jump off and reset the trainer, which still didn't resolve the issue, very little resistance was being applied by the trainer which made keeping a constant power output pretty much impossible, which can be seen by the Zone 5 Trace
bkoolpowerzone5.png

To get anywhere near the 265W 'set' power I had to take the cadence up to silly levels, and it was still spiking well over and well under, even though I was in the 50 / 11 rings.

So not the most productive of workouts. I came out of zwift at this point, restarted the trainer again, and joined in with the Pack Sub 2 ride for a bit of a cool down. I couldn't help myself and had a pop at the Island sprint.

There was certainly resistance, and it was hard work, as it should be. Hopefully as others have reported, resetting the trainer once you have started Zwift will fix the issue, otherwise it's going to make a complete mockery of my planned workouts.

3am is when I am doing my zombie walk around routine to try and find toilet without waking up ! If I wake up too much I don’t bother going back to bed
Maybe that’s why I look like this

Ha!
I had to get up to pee 5 times last night as the anaesthesia worked through me:blush:
Hobbling around in the dark on crutches:laugh:
Fortunately no accidents.

Was just looking at the review of the Neo2 by DC rainmaker, and with the stuff Bob posted yesterday about that conversation between Wahoo and Tacx about making the Climb controllable with other makes of trainer, and wondering if firmware would be made available for the Neo and Neo2 to control teh climb.

On the other hand a Core, Climb and Cassette can be had for £100 more than a Neo2

ARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH! My poor Brain!!

But would you have to wait for the Neo3 to be able to use the Kickr climb as it's not only firmware change that's needed I think, the way I read the article posted by Bob
I think that pretty much seals my decision, unfortunately the financial director has imposed a moratorium on the purchase of new bike bits until we know just what the score is with the car

Any climbr compatible turbo will need a rotating axle point so at moment at least N1 and 2 not compatible.
Elsewhere people have posited axle adapter solutions that might work but no one has shown one

I am not sure the N2 offers enough over a discounted N1 to justify a £350 difference. Pedal dynamics? It is said Some of the strongest and fastest pros have less than ideal pedal stroke. You love your climbing though so perhaps wahoo is best for you. At least you would be buying with knowledge of issues with the turbo and can get them resolved if you are unlucky enough to be affected.

I get pedal dynamics from the Vectors anyway, so no it's not a bonus. It's a shame that Wiggle at the moment won't allow my platinum discount against Wahoo products
