I think I’ll struggle not to launch of the line. I think it might actually be harder work keeping a group together then going balls out to be honest. We might get lucky and form a group if we all find ourselves together.

More importantly are we going to

-get new team jerseys
-not bother with team jerseys
-wear the luminous orange itch bags from last year.

There will be plenty of folk to draft with in the first 10 miles, which will aid a fast start, for the group riders, we will most likely take the bonus of this free speed but then form a small group or latch onto a pack which is of a comfortable pace .

Everyone's idea of comfortable is different, for me in a pack it's 18-21mph, .This will all depend on the slowest rider so pack speed will adjust for them :okay:

Sounds simple on paper, you might want a bulk order of flare guns though ^_^

In answer to earlier question, I'll be going as fast as possible - hopefully that means staying in a group with Tommy until I get cramp again!!

I liked the jerseys in terms of the design and colour - it did make it easier to spot each other and made it a bit more of a "team event"! However, I do take your point that the quality was a bit less than ideal and not what we're used to (especially you posh London Rapha types*).

So if someone else wants to organise a new jersey I would probably be up for it - but I'm not doing it all again, it was too stressful!! It would be good if a very similar design was done but in a better quality, and then those happy to stick with the current jersey won't look completely out of place (or vice versa!)

OR, we can just MTFU and wear the itchy jerseys once a year as part of the challenge! ^_^

* Disclaimer - I also own a Rapha jersey so...:whistle:

Pointless test. with an ftp 300W first segment @450W for 2.5mins AT 250W ftp, first segment 375w then 438W. Nobody is getting beyond segment 2
It does say to set your FTP to 100 before starting ... so should be doable to get most of the way through. But you're right, at your real FTP, impossible!

ToC, if its going to be a group ride, then we have to stick to it, else it will fall apart very early

Who is for group ride- names below
  1. CXR Andy
  2. Kipster
  3. Kipster's Son Liam

Who is for setting their fastest time- names below

  1. Berty Bassett Lee
  2. Martin Norris
  3. Tommy
  4. Bridgy
  5. Dean- Breedon
I'm in the set fastest time, but on a Single Speed :bicycle: I'll try and meet up with you guys at the start and get in the same pen so we have some photo ops, but once you guys get going I won't be able to spin fast enough to keep up. I won't know until next spring when I get outside again on the SS what time I'll be looking at, but I'm hoping an ave of 16 mph moving time should be feasible. I have a 10 kg weight drop target before then, and hopefully push the FTP by 10 or so, so should be good.

To be fair the name was my idea :shy: ^_^

I could probably stick a base layer under the jersey to try and avoid the sore nips. Or if enough of us wanted a new jersey to warrant a group order I could look into getting the same design made up from a different firm.

If it keeps going like this there won't be enough to make a steady group, so I maybe persuaded to try and go fast

In an ideal world both happen. Like Bridgy said we didn’t get to talk much on the ride but it was nice knowing he was in the same group. My tactic last year was to try and stick with the fastest man for as long as possible. If everyone does that then we can focus on looking forward rather than backwards.

It’s so far off it’s a nice thing to focus on.

What event are people doing here? The sportive or race/gran fondo? I may be persuaded to do it next year if I can get on the same event others are doing!

The jersey's we had made for London-Paris were really good (BioRacer). They came up a bit small (certainly compared to the CycleChat ones!) but quality was really good.
