I've just managed to complete my first Zwift/Kickr ride/race. 2 laps of the hilly London route (18 miles total). I'd forgotten how hard it is riding indoors compared to longer outdoor jaunts in the sun

Results are here: https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=93755

As described here, I went off full pelt and stayed in the lead group until the Fox Hill climb where I gradually fell back and waited to get picked up by a small bunch (of 8) for the middle flat section. This was whittled down to 4 and then finally 2 of us, who worked together to bridge up to another couple of guys by the 2nd climb of Fox Hill. Unfortunately I encountered a number of dropouts that cost me some time/places that weren't rectified until I placed the laptop nearer the Kickr, and then completed the final few miles in a small bunch but mis-timed the sprint too late and finished 2nd last from the bunch.

ZwiftPower shows me on the lower end of the Cat B's, which I'm pretty pleased with considering it was my first try on Zwift and I had the dropout issues - I'll get a longer usb lead to help sort that. Overall I enjoyed the Zwift experience - primarily due to the size of the field (122 in this race) so that there were always riders to ride with or chase/drop.

I'll keep riding through the trial but it's pretty safe to say that you've got another splitter on board here! ^_^. If we can arrange some 'closed' Cyclechat events that'd be perfect.

@CXRAndy - The Kickr and rocker board performed admirably :okay:
Excellent power and great numbers there. It's fair to say that you are in Cat B  Be interesting to see you on a flat course race :okay:

Glad you enjoyed your first Zwift race, you got stuck right in. I'm missing my reliable workhorse Kickr, having a few little issues with the latest Kickr.

Pleased you are enjoying the turbo and rocker board

Having to wait a couple of months for a new turbo has made me think about getting my pain cave ship shape. I don’t want to make it so welcoming the missus tries to reclaim the room! But seeing the recent computer discussion made me think about a more dedicated set up. I’ve got a MacBook Pro I used up until now, which seemed fine generally. Is anyone using Apple TV instead? Or something better? Pls assume I know F all about computers in general, but I like Apple as they seem to take pity on the simple folk like me...
Using an Apple TV myself. Works reasonably well. But there's some downsides.

You can't choose your world and you can't do custom workouts... The remote is insanely horrible. I have no idea what apple was thinking, but it's just plan awful.

Originally got it to avoid lugging a second laptop up to the vacation house (I run linux, so 2nd laptop is needed for windows/macos). Liked it enough to bring it home and avoid contention for the non-linux laptop while at home too.

Thanks Jeff. It doesn’t really add anything over the laptop I’m using on balance.

Not sure. Still have to complete the TT challenge. The 2:20 WBR 4 lap flat race might be the one I'll go for though if I change my mind. Else I'll just do an hour workout.
do a race on the tt bike ! - its murder
