Just wait until your grandfather looks back at you when you're shaving. It still shocks me.

First proper race, without setup issues. Forgotten how hard maintaining threshold effort.

Reasonably happy, stayed with mid pack B group until final climb then faded. Numbers are down, not worried, base training currently. last in B pack not by much though and a head a C cat winners. So I'm still a B cat rider- yay . Just!
Before my strange cold I thought my max HR was 176 bpm. You avg. that for more than 40 minutes . Aren't we about thesame age, 53?

Yes Lars, my max heart rate has mysteriously risen from 181 to 191 in recent months. I can average at a higher HR and still hang on for a bit longer. I don't know it's because I'm doing mainly aerobic training at low power levels and it's altered my fitness in some way.

Ive decided to continue with aerobic training, throughout the winter and into spring building a bigger base, or as much as I can tolerate before moving onto build power and sprint. I will of course from time to time add in the odd threshold race event, because it's counter productive to just do 'steady riding' all the time.

Last year I hit a wall of fatigue around spring, I think because I did mainly power building throughout the winter. Different approach this year, see what happens

In other news I’m officially on the waiting list for the neo bike! All paid up but the estimated despatch is around Christmas. So one day soon I’ll actually be able to join in the general excuse making rather than just talking shite on the sidelines

Who did you order through? I was waiting to see if DC Rainmaker came up with a 10% off link but I guess that may be unlikely in the short term.

I've just managed to complete my first Zwift/Kickr ride/race. 2 laps of the hilly London route (18 miles total). I'd forgotten how hard it is riding indoors compared to longer outdoor jaunts in the sun

Results are here: https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=93755

As described here, I went off full pelt and stayed in the lead group until the Fox Hill climb where I gradually fell back and waited to get picked up by a small bunch (of 8) for the middle flat section. This was whittled down to 4 and then finally 2 of us, who worked together to bridge up to another couple of guys by the 2nd climb of Fox Hill. Unfortunately I encountered a number of dropouts that cost me some time/places that weren't rectified until I placed the laptop nearer the Kickr, and then completed the final few miles in a small bunch but mis-timed the sprint too late and finished 2nd last from the bunch.

ZwiftPower shows me on the lower end of the Cat B's, which I'm pretty pleased with considering it was my first try on Zwift and I had the dropout issues - I'll get a longer usb lead to help sort that. Overall I enjoyed the Zwift experience - primarily due to the size of the field (122 in this race) so that there were always riders to ride with or chase/drop.

I'll keep riding through the trial but it's pretty safe to say that you've got another splitter on board here! ^_^. If we can arrange some 'closed' Cyclechat events that'd be perfect.

@CXRAndy - The Kickr and rocker board performed admirably :okay:

Welcome to the other side! It’s always the races that drag people in deeper not the pootling around courses. Sounds like you had a blast despite the drop outs.

I got lucky Norry. I have a cycling buddy who’s ordered one on my behalf through the company he works for. I’m getting more than 10% discount but I’m taking him out for a meal so it probably gonna work out the same.

If I were you I’d probably wait a little longer for dc rainmaker or email sigma sport mention dc rainmaker discount and tell them to knock 10%. I wouldn’t pay full rrp!

I used to get a load of drop out using ant+, but I don't get any using ant+ fec connection in zwift.
