Ah, nice one! I'm still planning to spend my Tesco Clubcard tokens on a new trainer from Evans, but most trainers there are now saying stock not due until 21st November. Currently torn between the Kickr Cor and the Elite DiretoHe's bought my Kickr

Yes, absolutely right! (I only know that about the power figures because I looked it up on Strava!)Probably best not to look at the power numbers and just hang in on the front as long as possible![]()
I get demolished by Pro units on inclines (or at least the transitions into the inclines). I'd probably do a top 100 climbs challenge to complete it, but would't be very competitive unless you all want to buy a kickr or neo hahaNot sure if the Kickr will be at much of a disadvantage up the steep hills. Do you remember if there were much of a difference when we last had a race? I think you and me were almost level pegging when last out on the steep grads.

Same here, no racing today but looking to get on at about 3:30 for a 2-3 hour session and get some miles in.may go on later but not racing - this tt bike thing never lets you draft ! but i am determined to enter the competition

No I haven't - I will have a look for it now Andy - cheers....Have you seen my thread re the new Kickr? Nothing insurmountable, if you're a little practical and done before first ride![]()
At C level I have to push the best part of 300 watts for a minute to get into the lead C group (but this will also include slower B riders). The next 4-5 mins is still quite high (for me). At every slight incline the power shoots up again as the group tries to shed the weaker riders. This is why I do the flatter races as I can generally hang on during the shorter inclinesIt's no quite as bad as that! I usually manage to stay with the lead group at the start and this takes about 400-500 watts for 20-30 seconds, and then it tends to settle down to just over 300 watts by 30 seconds. Those initial high watts for 30ish seconds definitely feels more like a minute though I'll definitely give you that!
good fun
As I'm mid range C cat, I'd say you'd be B cat easily. I'd suggest start with B and if they do drop you, you'll at least get a draft/drag along for a free ride until the fast C's catch upYep - I've now got Andy's Kickr - complete with rocker board!Looking forward to finally getting it set up tonight.
I've offloaded the BKool Pro to a friend, so I expect I'll be fully committed to the Kickr/Zwift now.
Most likely though you'll stay with the B's. Get yourself into a group and keep your nose out the wind. Drafting and tactics work so much more in Zwift racing.
I think this is a mass start race anyway, so in terms of staying with any particular category group it won't really matter which cat you enter. As I'm mid range C cat, I'd say you'd be B cat easily. If you get dropped from one group, but see another behind, don't try to hold them off. If there are 4-5 of them they will almost certainly catch you and for less effort than you'll put out trying to hold them off. Best to cruise along, have a rest, then when they get to you latch on to them. Then take them on the sprint finish![]()
It's blank for me at the top....I guess I'll find out tonight whether any enforcement is in place!I think this is a mass start race anyway, so in terms of staying with any particular category group it won't really matter which cat you enter.
I don't know how this new category enforcement thing on Zwiftpower works for new riders like @peterob ? Are you signed up to Zwiftpower Pete? If so, what cat does it say for you (next to "skills" along the top when you're logged in)?

It certainly will let you know if you failed to warm up properly! But yes, if you want to have a good showing, you've got to hit the high watts and get in with the lead group (though for me these days that tends to lead to a mid race fade). It's no quite as bad as that!
