Anyone else keep an eye out for any of Simon Warren's "100 Climbs"?

My plan tomorrow is to have a go at #114 Talland Hill in Polperro. It gets 10/10 so might be a bit of a handful

I think I've done 8 irl;
Cheddar gorge
Box hill
Leith hill
The wall
Streatley Hill (local)
Combe Gibbet (local)
Devils staircase (the hardest I've done)
The tumble

I've done a few of the second 100 as well.

i like zwift ^_^
it treats me so much better than bkool did - but i am under no illusion - if i bury myself up hills i can pull away from people - that is the only way i can keep up on most courses - on the flat i have to draft and on downhill i am mincemeat unless in a group - much the same irl - i have rode with a lot of you irl now and know my place
i foolishly mentioned to bob about the toc - to try and help him  this would mean letting him draft if we aint in a group - i know full well that this would mean curtains for me as i know on a flat course the london boys are stronger - and the welsh - anyone south of here in fact

i'm screwed ^_^
To be fair Lee, not 'anyone' South of where you are ... don't forget I'm South of you

On ToC I'm 99% sure to be on the SS. Flat ish course. So don't look to me for help, I'll be way, way , way back spinning away and latching on to any group that will have me

Thought I'll see how i got on with my poorly rib.
1 Racing out of the question
2 hilly routes out of the question
soon as my breathing rises it starts to become quite uncomfortable so I'll have to use the zwift hack for some flat routes
When I did my collar bone I found that using Tri bars was helpful as it kept me in one position and stopped me moving about too much.

Could sombody have a look at my Zwift power profile please,
I have entered 4 races as cat D and 2 have been reclassification as cat c,

I did a ftp test when I got the Kicker core and it was 206w , the race this afternoon upgraded my ftp to 227w,do I need to alter my Zwift power profile and only enter cat c races now

https://zwiftpower.com/profile.php?z=843715

Thanks
I'm no expert, but at 2.6 w/kg you're definitely Cat C. At that w/kg you'll be competing with me in Cat C races :okay: Your job now is to get yourself up the standings in Cat C races :training: :okay:

Had my own personal coach for the KISS EUR yesterday.

Whorty chimed in about 15 minutes into the race as I was struggling to hang on to the lead C group. After some light shouting to get back onto the group, he got to watch as they pulled away and about all I could do was say arghh into the chat window. But at least I got into the lead pack for a while -- yesterday I didn't even manage to do that during the KISS race.

As I caught my breath and gathered my wits, Whorty chimed in with some encouragement and informed me about a group rapidly closing -- I was beat enough that I didn't even realize they were behind me. So I got to latch on for a bit and get pulled around.

I suspect boredom got the better of him and he disappeared. So he didn't see me struggling over the last 5 miles to stay ahead of another group... I could see the time gap shrinking across each mile. They caught me about a half-mile from the finish and blew past. I wasn't last in C, but pretty damn close.

Day off today. Then the KISS EUR on Thursday.
I stayed til the end Jeff, just figured you was suffering enough towards the end to have me keep yapping on  I could see you was suffering so you did well to last the course once dropped. :okay:

@BILL S ran a league based on those climbs 2 or 3 years ago. It was the hardest thing I'd ever done and I didn't finish it . I really enjoy it though. @BILL S
Please don't tempt @BILL S to set up that league again ... my Bkool subs run until May next year so even though I have a Kickr I could be tempted to do that league. Wouldn't be competative against Pros, but I'd see this as a challenge to just get to the top. Would proper test my new kickr belt too

Rare Thursday off football Dad taxi duties tonight for me - anyone planning on racing on Zwift later?

- looking at events schedule I'll probably aim to do the XRS-ZTR race at 18.30

If I can get everything set up in time I might try that as my first ever Zwift 'experience' ^_^

Any tips for a newbie? I think I read somewhere that you need to have the power up near max at the start (unlike BKool where it is a standing start). I don't want to be left floundering at the start line!

Yes, absolutely! With 20-30 seconds to go, get yourself into a big gear and start to wind up so that you're at high watts when the countdown gets to zero. Then, try and hold those high watts for as long as possible to stay as near the front as you can. It will all settle down after a minute or so, but if you get left behind you may well never make contact with the front group again due to the group drafting effect. However, if you can stay near the front you may well be comfortable drafting with that group once things do settle down.

The draft effect is strong, but it doesn't reduce the resistance you feel like it does in Bkool - it just allows you to maintain a higher speed for lower watts, which can take a bit of getting used to. Be prepared for people to race like crazy when you hit an incline - this is where the races usually split up significantly. Again, if you can stay with a group, it will settle down again after the hill. No power-ups allowed in this race so you don't need to worry about those!

Good luck - what Cat will you be joining?

You could be looking at 400+watts for about a minute for the start.

Enjoy

Starts can be brutal, upto 500W for nearly a minute. You dont have to do this, but to get into the lead pack, you do. Start more leisurely and accept being further down in the race. You will find it difficult to jump from one pack to another unless its a mega race(hundreds of racers)
