I never knew the draft effect was higher in the front half.

I have to defer to the knowledge of race organisers here-yes, I believe it is and is one of the reasons why, if you begin to fall back through the pack you can get dropped pretty quickly. Similarly, if you do get dropped and put out watts to get back on or have chased down a group you must get yourself nearer front of pack to get the greater draft benefit and recover.

Well that was interesting.. Managed to stay with the faster group of mixed B's and C's for the first lap and a half or so, then I lost it going up the short 5% into Trafalgar Sq (I think) ... watched them disappear into the distance, but picked up another mixed group that I held onto until the underground station after that steep hilly bit in the park the third time. ... Eventually found and joined a group of non ZHR riders to get all the way round.

I think I may have been promoted on Zwiftpower though

Ooops!
3.1 w/kg is borderline C/B ... if there's more to give the does seem like you're a B :notworthy:

Nice ride in Surrey with friends mainly to have a crack at Staple Lane and Box Hill. 20 sec faster up box at 7-08 with 70km in the legs so happy with that. I had a false start as I came into the Hill when a rider pulled out to clip in and start and couldn’t clip in. I had to brake to go around him, cursing inwardly at the same time. Probably fired me up.
Some perspective is ex pro yanto Barber rode up box Today at 5-08!

Well done!
Now take 2-3 days off the bike and then dona proper ftp test and see what happens. Let the fatigue leave the legs first.
I was going to continue the workouts through Sept then do an ftp at the end of the month. Hoping to see an improvement on starting 243 figure.

Well I did the short race tonight - the 6.20 1 lap London Flat. I failed to hold the same watts as I managed outside but still did my best indoor watts of the year. Zwift has increased my FTP from 245 to 257. That may make ZA Workout #9 and 10 a bit harder!

Morning all,
I’ve been keeping my head down trying to do ZA, which I’ve found is an excellent way of getting used to Zwift. I’ve done sessions 1-5 (1, 2 & 5 were tough), 3 group rides and two races. I’m loving it
I’ve sorted Zwiftpower and joined the team, thanks for your help on this
Any news on Zwift allowing private closed races?

I've been talking to Zwift about private closed races and they're not interested at the moment. As they see it, there are enough races and group rides being run every 5-10 mins through the day and there isn't enough space left in the calendar to run 'ad-hoc' races as some groups want to set them up. They would rather work with a small number of organisers who set up lots of races, rather than large numbers of small groups who set up 1 or 2 rides a week. I can see their point today, as their software is set up so I think we'll have to live with what we have for now and see if Bkool ever gets its act together.

Saying that though, the races on Bkool are good fun, always loads of others in these and definitely make you work really hard which ultimately is the point  So not all bad.

Welcome to the dark side :okay:

What Whorty said. zsunR now have permission to run some closed races for members but it was a long time sorting against a background of club membership and group rides going back to the beta days of Zwift.
We can still use Zwift preferences to go off grid and set up our own races this winter-it’s just thy won’t show up officially in zwiftpower, if that matters.

can't we all just join an all cat race ? on the map you can see blue blobs of team members if you can't see the in front of you and there should be someone to draft instead of being stuck in nomans land

We can do the simple example I suggested. Join a cat B race, Cyclechat riders sit on the line for a minute after tbe official start, then go.

You could even have handicap races using the countdown timer to stage each persons time . It's a doddle.

You would get results aswell in Zwiftpower.

Has Carl suggested why not just pick one or two races a week from the calendar and ride them normally?
