Lads, I've 'snapped'. Shop are messing me about so I'm ordering a Wahoo Kickr Snap from Wiggle (a decent retailer!) and when (if) my replacement trainer comes I'm selling it still in the box. With Wiggle it will be here in a day or two and it's a much better trainer. Alpe d'Zwift here I come!

A nice trainer with a proper power meter.

Exactly! It's clearly not going to be like the full fat Kickr but very much good enough for me. Looking forward to 12% gradient which is nearly the max Alpe D'Huez gradient and never hitting 1,200 watts!

Also going to be getting my old road bike back and putting that on the Kickr permanently, saving my 'good' roadie for the road. Means I don't have to recalibrate everytime I fancy some fresh air. With summer coming that'd be a farce.

It's here! First newbie question from me, it won't be the last.

I'm trying to do the spindown through the wahoo app (not connected to zwift) and I'm killing myself trying to reach the required speed which is 22mph. It's way too hard and I'm bailing before I get there, blowing through my rear. I can do 22mph on the road and it's not this hard. What am I doing wrong? Is the knob too tight? Too loose? My tyre pressure is 100psi and it's clean.

110psi and two and a half complete turns

The iOS app was better than the Android app for the spindown. Have you done the advanced spindown (not sure if that is still needed but it was on my v1 snap) https://www.smartbiketrainers.com/advanced-spindown-calibration-wahoo-kickr-snap-4350

Still not there. First spin much better. I put it into top gear and got to the speed pretty easily. Counted about 10 seconds until it told me to speed up again for the second spin but it was like trying to ride up a hill cadence through the floor, dropped it down a few gears and speed dropped. I'm absolutely goosed, this is the best workout I've had for ages!

Edit: Loosen a quarter turn?
"If the spindown is unusually short (under 10 seconds), loosen the blue tension knob one quarter turn and perform another spindown, repeating as necessary" (wahoofitness.com)

Edit: Silly me was in the wrong app! Downloaded wahoo utility (not wahoo fitness), put it back to the default 2 turns and easy peasy!

With wheel on trainers, you will need to keep an eye on tyre pressure before each ride and from time to time do the spin down test to ensure it stays calibrated.

Working from home today and fancied an IRL ride but have to stay in for a delivery. Made the mistake of going into a rather warm loft to do Jons Mix to work on technique. Even though I dialed down intensity a bit I just couldn’t get my HR below 144 on the recovery sections. Time to bring the NEO downstairs for those indoor sessions.
Glorious day here and may nip out later.
