Wouldn't it be better to print it so that the layers when installed are horizontal? Isn't it going to split when rocking now?

The bits in the tennis ball cups are sacrificial supports to aid printing process. The inside is a honeycomb lattice of varying directions. I set the density to the lowest I think at 10% to save filament for this test piece. The slicer program works it all out automatically. But if you've got the engineering background to assess the forces , you can manually design the direction of print.

Thanks, but unfortunately, I got a different type of HRM for Christmas!

If there were a free or very cheap Android app, that would be great. Forget that - how would the Android device receive the Ant+ signal in the first place?!

That's why I suggested the 4iiii. Not many phones have an ANT+ chip (a few do).
I know you got an HRM for Christmas, but you keep changing the goalposts so I'm just telling you what's available to solve today's issue because I doubt you were aware of that option.

If you were using a PC, an ANT+ dongle would do the trick too. But you're using apple TV so you're stuck with two Bluetooth channels. The other nice thing about the 4iiii is that it can receive an ANT+ signal and combine the HR output with the power into one BT channel.

But consider this eductional purposes only (for you and others). I know you're not going to buy one.

Gone are the days when virtually every Android device had inbuilt Ant+. You have to check carefully the specification of each device.

I bet there is a dongle that would plug into usb C port

I think there probably is, or you can use a USBc adaptor, but the dongles don't all have good support on android. I've never really looked into it as never had the need. I'm pretty-much Bluetooth only these days for indoor.

I managed to our a cup of coffee over my laptop yesterday and it has decided not to work very well now ^_^ (I. e. not at all). It was time for a new one anyway. Anyone advise me what I should look for in a replacement, to run TVP and possibly Zwift plus the usual stuff of recording etc.

I normally buy at PC World/ Curry's. Any standout offers from there? Cheers.

Thanks. I am trying to avoid spending even more money just to keep me going for a few weeks! I just splashed out another £14 on tennis balls!

I checked the 2 Google phones that I have. They won't work with Ant+. I could get hold of an HTC M8 but I don't think that will either. There is an outside chance that my Samsung tablet might... Will check later.

My Samsung S21 and S9 tablet have Ant+ as have all my previous Samsungs, also check out the QZ app.

That you can't be sure of. HP (an the other major brands) releases updates whenever/if they feel like it. They may be months/years behind the chipset manufacturers "generic" driver releases...
yes i think i answered that before you saw it , just having a sarnie then a bit more painting while it settles then i will test it out .

I reckon January will see some good deals. They always try to offload what they didn't sell for Black Fridays, Cyber Mondays, Christmas, etc. when the New Year starts. That's when I usually buy all my stuff.

It's overkill, to be honest. You really don't need much to run cycling apps well. Itf you want to record/stream prioritise CPU and memory over GPU.

Depends on which cycling app! MyWhoosh would eat that laptop for breakfast, and it will throttle within minutes and/or have its tiny fans spin like crazy. ^_^

I am sure OBS etc. can leverage the capabilities of the GPU.

A desktop system with these specs would be around the same price:
AMD Ryzen 5 7600(X) CPU (add cooler if buying the X-model)
Asus B650 motherboard w/WIFI (always recommend using cable if possible!)
16 GB DDR5 RAM
RTX 3060 12GB GPU
256 GB NVMe harddisk (plenty if used only for cycling apps - a cheap PCIe3 will be just fine)
Random £50 case
Corsair CX 650 watts PSU
