It's a lumpy old course that Loop d' Loop. Initially there was only 9 signed up, but grew to 44 before the start. John Constable joined in too. I was hoping to hang on over the first lap and climb. Alas I was gapped as the gradient eased. Then I was left floundering between two riders in front and a big pack behind. I decided to try and latch onto the two in front. I caught one, but the other got away. We trundled around the second lap Where I eventually dropped him before the second climb. I hadn't noticed that the big group had halved the deficit and I was now under pressure to keep them away I crested, but two caught me. One guy(Belgium )had steering and was swerving all over the place trying to remove the draft from me. The advantage of steering it tends to pull the rider behind into the draft of the faster rider:laugh:.

He then went for a breakaway attack, which I covered but we dropped the German.

Then came the sprint, I went early, but couldn't shake him off even with steering, he, to his credit pipped me at the line. I hit a decent 995W nearly 9Wkh for 15 secs, but he was stronger - and half my age

15th Z, 7th ZP 3 point increase RS 318

I said to John top third would be a good result, no complaints from me with my current fitness

What does the team think about steerer plates?

I had been thinking that I might make one when my Victory arrives but I just spotted JetBlack smart turn blocks going for only £25.99 HERE on ebay and there is a discount coupon if bought before Dec 18th, bringing the price down to £23.91, with free postage! At that price it would hardly be worth bothering to make my own.

BUY or PASS?

PS Just found this...

Yes definitely get one. I absolutely love the steering feature, especially for racing, add an extra dimension to out manoeuvring your opponents. You can extend a lead by taking the shortest route around twisty courses.

You can see in my last event-video, the rider in front steering to make me lose draft effect (number in circle upper screen). It means I have to work harder to stay with him.

I love steering, but I don't want my handlebars moving. I guess it's a personal preference. I like the way it is with the Plays.

I used steering at the end of my race yesterday when I "went first" in my group round a bend, to shorten the bend and ensure the others couldn't jump straight into my draft.

Haven't used steering and don't feel I need it.
Even if I end up not using steering much in the game, I like the idea of the front wheel not being stuck pointing straight ahead.

I have already fitted an oversize front tyre inflated to lowish pressure to provide some give.

In other news... My Apple TV box just arrived! I don't think that it had ever been used because it is immaculate and the stickers and packaging were still in place.

I am just updating the software to the latest version (tvOS 18.1). I have slow broadband so it is going to take about 45 minutes.

I am about to register for an Apple ID so I can download Zwift once the OS update has finished.

I am currently not doing anything through Apple...! The registration process is repeatedly failing to send a code through to my phone. Hundreds of people online complaining about the same problem...

I am going to take a break for an hour and do a quick ride before it gets dark. I will try again after I get home.

I will be getting 2 months free Zwift once my trainer arrives and after that I will pay Zwift directly. I assume that Apple charge extra?

No there is no need to involve apple with any payments. You're just using their box to run the Zwift app. Don't use apple for code authentication or payments. Setup an apple account and that should be it

Oh yeah avoid actually using the apple TV outside the app. And the remote is horrendous
I am testing it and setting it up on my new TV downstairs but will only be using it for Zwift on my old TV upstairs.

The remote may be a bit iffy to use but it is certainly a very nice build quality. All of my other remote controls are made of plastic!

The picture is flickering but I won't worry about that yet because it might not on the old TV.

Now back to trying to set up an Apple account...
