First go at an Elimination race. Cocked it up rather, but the vid shows how it works

I had a go a few weeks back - it was less a 'sprint and recover' and more a hold a high pace each lap. I was spat out quite quickly haha
Might be different with more real riders of similar ability rather than the bots, some of whom are very strong
A good blast though

They're one of my favourite things on iVTPv. Bastards - they got you on the final straight

I've found what happens is one or two stupid bots will go off the front and then get tired later. So strategically it's often best not to follow but just hang in and make a move later.

I got the dynamics wrong - yo-yoing off the front. I should also have reacted better to the group that caught me. As you say, good fun though and you can set them up so easily.

I've been caught that way once before. It makes you keep an eye on the speed of the people behind a bit more vigilantly
That's something you don't get in native Zwift, so it's new. Speed instead of w/kg.

YOu can always cancel annual and go monthly for a bit?

I quite like IndieVelo TPv. I don't mind racing the bots. It's more a of a serious racing and training platform than Zwift, but you can't argue the graphics are as good. It doesn't spoil racing, but I think free riding on Zwift is a lot better. (Free riding outside better still - but not in the snow.)

I've just done this. Will see how much I use zwift in December.

I can see the reason not to expose the bots, but if they ride unrealistically, then they will spoil the event.

Funnily enough I did Bealach na Ba myself. Didn’t originally plan to but I’d finished the route I was doing (Coast to Coast) and as that ends quite near the climb portal, thought I’d take a look and see what it was. As it was one I hadn’t done before, thought I’d do a Z2/3 effort and see if I could do it under an hour - which I managed by 3 1/2 minutes, even with a one minute stop at halfway cause my left knee started to play up.

Can you tell what is a bot compared to real riders.

If you set up a race you can stipulate how many riders can be in each pen, and if there are bots or not. You can normally see pre race how many riders are real and therefore deduce how many are bots. With the low numbers of racers that I've seen so far (despite TVP saying there are 40,000 people signed up) I find most are bots.
Not a problem if you're looking for a good workout and to be pushed, but not the same as Zwift where you can psych out humans to do something stupid
TVP has great potential, but it needs more humans and less bots to make it feel right I think.

No during the race, but honestly it doesn't bother me in the slightest. The system will place you with a range of bots that will be suitable for your ability, which it judges by your power date initially if you have done free rides or workouts. Thereafter it will grade you. Each time you race you will go up or down a notch in the system.

I think there is a way to see afterwards in the listings though.
