I'm not sure about other apps, but Zwift may as well be the only option. It's really a matter of considering your long-term vs. short term cost.used my free distance earlier and i can see me resubbing soon as currently i am only getting a non commute ride in every couple of weeks due to working every sunday whilst they want us .
I Have considered cheaper apps but i think they all need a smart trainer these days ? and as i only have a dumb trainer with speed and cadence sensor it rules them out .
Buying a cheap smart trainer would allow you to use a cheaper or even free app but would be a large one-off cost. Alternatively, you can use what you've got and pay for the app.
Maybe wait for some pre-Christmas deals and finance a smart trainer? That could be cheaper per month than a membership? Or find a used smart which would reduce the one-off cost?
