I managed to prevent Stephen from stealing the League off me. He needed to beat me up Epic by 3 places for the League win.
He managed to beat me by about 0.1s but not enough places. I smashed my EPic PR down to 24:21 (3.6 w/kg effort). It was about 28 last week

Not been up that side of the KoM for absolutely ages. Can't recall when I last raced up that way. Currently planning to crawl up there this evening and see if I can beat 30 mins on the KoM

Nah it's worse than that. I think it's a new gear cable needed for the rear D/R. I'll be looking at that later. I've not changed anything on the bike and I've got 13.8k miles on it - nearly all of it indoor and I'm pretty sure the cable has started to go at the shifter end. It was even worse after the race. Time to check it out.

That's what I thought it was. I also thought I had one in stock. I was wrong. So I've ordered one. The ones I had were brake cables.

Ah yes, two now. Was just one when I checked before. Maybe I'll do it... If numbers stay low, I may try a little experiment to make it more fun.

It's a shame the A pen is so sparsely populated still in races. Many a time the C and d pens are busy but the A less so (below from this evening).
It's a shame the Zwift app can't evenly spread riders across pens, or just make every race an open pen so all riders are visible and results are shown for each 'cat' afterwards. This way I'm sure everyone would always find someone to ride with/race against.

Ah shoot, I was planning to wait 1 minute in the pen and then ridde with the B group, catch to A, and take the whole thing. After joining I realised that not all pens were visible  So just carried on and did the minimum to win. Not exactly exciting, I can see why A is this empty.

Would be more fun with either all pens were visible or maybe pen order reversed. Just a thought.

I'd like to say this means I've made a huge leap forward in fitness but I actually think it just means I don't do 20 minute climb races very often!

Shame you didn't have many competitors in the A pen @Peter Salt - I suspect that was partly because of the terrain of the course because there were about twice as many last week. To be honest, I don't think I would normally have chosen a race with that profile myself! Glad I did it though!

I enjoyed the challenge. But if Stephen Hynes had not signed up, I might have had second thoughts. Glad I made the effort now though

Big jump there Paul, :okay:

From memory you've always been around the 300W, like you say a 20 min hard effort confirms your numbers

I'm a fair bit behind where I was a couple of years ago for a number of reasons, and I don't think that FTP thing really tells the whole story - but I am in the process now of trying to improve so it's still encouraging all the same!

Wasn't really a 'race' for me, hilly stages never are, but it was a damn good workout. Kept pressure on the pedals and kept them turning at a (for me) decent power. Didn't break the 30 minute time for the KoM (31 mins) but I held 224 watts all the way which I'm well pleased with.

I lost the pack coming out of the tunnels to the KoM. We had a guy pushing 3.5+ w/kg and I couldn't hang on and save enough for the climb. I hit the climb 8th and managed to crawl past 2 riders before the castle (one then bailed, I think another bailed too earlier as I'm sure there were 9 starters). I couldn't catch the 3 riders ahead of me who held about 60-90 seconds all the way up.

Nice little ride, and reduced my ZRS again :wahhey:
