I had a race on my schedule for Sunday but missed it as I wasn't feeling 100% last week so took a couple of days off. I'll also have to take a few days off from tomorrow following a minor Op tomorrow morning.

To compensate for this I decided to go and thrash myself for 5 hours - and see if I could beat my best ever 5 hour power. I often like something to aim for if I am going to push myself.

I was pleased with my solo ride of 91 miles, averaging 18.5 mph and 200W thereby comfortably beating my previous best 5 hr power. I hope that ride will "sink in" before my next race at the MK Bowl next Sunday.

Wow, he's a big lad, but massive kudos to him for getting on the bike and putting the effort in. He cruises at my sprint watts :eek:

I raced with him on the Tiny events last week. On the volcano flat circuit, he dropped all of us on a descent, then kept it going holding over 550W for several minutes. The pack was cruising at 40kph, he was doing 45-50kph. He won that event solo break

I've got the video, just not uploaded.

He's taken quite a lot of abuse. Actually there are two TyDiddys. One senior and one Jr. The main issue people who care about these things have with him is that he seems to be using a spin bike and spin bikes are fairly notorious for giving power directly proportional to RPM.

At the end of the day it's an imperfect world. I'm glad he's finding a way to get fitter. I'm also glad he doesn't race in the races I do :laugh:

The Zwift logic does 'feel' flawed sometimes, where the extremes of weight seem to me to defy logic. Surely with that weight, in real life, it would take a considerable distance to get that weight up to speed, by which time the pack would have gone? And is it likely that even pushing 500 watts he'd be able in real life to move that fast? Surely wind resistance would be a big issue?
Same for the 10 year old kids, would they logically be able to keep up pushing only 150 watts with a group pushing 200+ watts?
Obviously I'm only guessing but something doesn't quite seem logical.
Saying all that though, I hold my hat off to the guy for putting the effort in and doing the work. Can't be easy when you get that big to push that hard, and it's all a positive for him and his future health.

I once had an idea to organise a race where everyone would set their weight to 1000kg and found out that you can put pretty much any value in the weight field, but in-game there's a max threshold - I seem to remember it was about 150kg, but not sure. So if you're heavier than that your W/kg calculation will be off - i.e. a 200kg individual doing 400W will be doing 2.67W/kg. Not sure if it's still the case but just something to bear in mind.

Had a very satisfying sprint finish to a race there- 10 minute smash rounded an 100kg watt monster B (over 1500 watts for 15 seconds!) at the last second with the help of an aero and drafting to take the overall win. Was wondering if he is legit and he is!

Edit; I see he hit 1700 watts for 17 seconds at a race a while back 🤯

322 watts for over 10 minutes .... that's brilliant Michael :notworthy::bravo:

To be clear...it definitely was a race that sapped the legs for the final sprint and everyone went long so he didn't hit anything like those numbers!

I've always found that the only way to beat the guys with a massive sprint, is to go early and either hope they leave their sprint too late, or that they don't have a long sprint so they fade. It's my only tactic :laugh:
