Hard as nails Martin! One look outside and if it’s raining I’d sooner jump on Zwift 😂 I’ve had similar experience on a descent off Randa in Mallorca in April - rain came on and by the time I was off the descent I could hardly control the bike and arms were shaking uncontrollably. Well done on finishing and doing so well.

You just reminded me of a descent down col de joux plane into Morzine, in atrocious conditions, rain pouring down, cold enough even in summer, on a hired bike with rim brakes on carbon wheels. I was shivering fro, the cold and shaking from the bare knuckle experience. Not ridden a rim brake bike since.

That Martin-hard as nails!

Just a heads-up guys for anyone wanting to do the Friday Smash this week. I've made it a 0945 start because the guys in the US changed their clocks this week, so it's 0545 for them.
Oddly, 0645 is too late for most of them, so I decided to shift it for a couple of weeks until we change ours at the end of March and "catch up" then it can go back to 1045.

That actually works better for me too .... unfortunately ... I'm trying to think of an excuse not to join and get beaten up again :surrender: :B)

Stage 4 Zwift games. Glasgow Crit

High intensity 5 laps, held onto the front group for nearly 4 laps, tagged a few others who had been dropped too. We crested the Clyde kicker together for the final time, then swamped by a pack of 15 chasing us down. Managed to hold on and surge through to keep my position over the line.

HR not dropped below 170bpm for whole event.

98/360 starting.

Fancied a Tuesday night race , obvious choice zwift games but it's on my least favourite course Glasgow Crit 5 laps , After much dithering I signed up and found myself in the pen questioning my life choices ,then a familiar name popped up Steven Bloommart a Friday rival so race on ! . Tactics hang on as long as I could. What happen next shocked me I was still with the lead pack the 5th !!! Time up the kicker hung on but was dead by the sprint 47th of 147 on zpower just 12 secs of 1st in 22.54 . I have no idea where this performance came from ,3rd best ever 20 min power and the others will have been on long climbs , And most importantly 18 secs in front of Steven

Glasgow crit is a great course! Brutal though. After a 2 year hiatus I went for a run this evening, which usually means I'll be Injured soon if I'm not already

Actually I miscalculated because my wife used my watch a few times in 2022. It's 1488 days since my last run according to Strava.

Excellent. My top 2 or 3 best 20-minute power on Zwift have all come from hill repeats on City and the Sgurr. It just seems to be the ideal course for pulling the most power out of me.

Sounds like a great result. You'll have to underline this dominance on Friday. (2 Bridges loop, 1 lap)

That's odd - it's a course that (when raced) really encourages overstretching on the short ascents and resting (or drafting) on the descents, which is definitely more a more physiologically taxing way of achieving a certain average power than putting out a constant effort on level or uphill terrain. You should see a marked improvement if you put in a 20-minute TT effort on Tempus Fugit or, for example, the Innsbruck KOM.

I will have to give that a try sometime. I haven't done a Tempus all-out test for a while.
I did a 235W in an IRL iTT (June 2022 PR) which is almost identical to the 232 on Sgurr.
Although I have probably improved since then. (Actually I checked and have beaten that Sgurr 20m power twice this year on other routes - new PR is 236 from an indieVelo hilly elimination race).

Yep I agree - should be really good for a high NP and IF though 💪

So Eric Schlange has tested the tri-spoke/disc combo available only as a prize in the Zwift Big Spin events, and it’s surprisingly come out as by far the worst wheelset in the game… because ZHQ assigned the wrong performance parameters. So the big question is, do we think that, when the promised tweak is made, it’ll be a worthwhile wheel to have? While I’m normally quite sanguine about the stuff that clogs up our garages, it would be cool to have a tri-spoke if the performance is comparable with the Zipp or DT Swiss disc wheelsets (my IRL TT setup is/was a pair of tri-spokes, and they’re brilliant).

I can’t imagine Zwift will make them the best wheels because for now they’re exclusively for The Big Spin, and, even then, only randomly allocated… unless, I suppose, they appear in the Drop Shop in due course…
