Question for everyone who raced tonight , Why are starts so fast ?, The course has an obvious selection point the climb yet everyone races full gas too it . Would the results be much different if everyone cruised to the bottom then the race kicked off
I think it's a way too to put riders in the red and keep them there if they're not up to fitness. Had we started slow last night I'd have been fresh for the climb and would have made it over with the leaders, but because the race was frenetic and hard to the climb, I was already in the red so sure to be dropped. Took the sprint out of my legs too.
But first week on the bike after 7 months off I was not too bad ... if I keep at it I'll be able to hang on longer in future.
