And it's done FRR stage 8 and tour completed . Just 38kms today 4 spirits in the 1st 20km then just the little matter of the Epic KOM and the finish on top of the radio tower !!!. I discovered you can have all the tactics in the world but you do need the legs to see them through . Went with my normal tactic of being near the front at the 1st sprint , semi sprinting to still be in the front group when the sprint end . Halfway through the 1st sprint I realised a tactical rethink was required , Hung after this sprint but let the group go at the next , Found a group of 8 to work with to the next sprints which I didn't contest but managed to marshall the group to regroup after each sprint . Finally got caught by a much bigger group after the last sprint so had a nice ride to the Epic . Climbed at a steady pace as the group splintered as I slowly picked people off . Formed a small group of 6 with 4 ladies from the watt fabric team and a Swedish guy near me on GC . We all climbed the epic together all taking turns ,it almost felt easy , Then the radio tower 8 mins of hell but I did manage to pass 5 people and drop the Swede . 27th place, 2.8w/kg .
After a quick pause at the top where the bike changed from the preselected zwift bike to my TT bike I launched myself off the tower and annoyingly topped out at 98kph just as the road kicked back up ,should have gone full disc set up 😁

FRR results in and I know your all anxious to know if yesterday's effort propelled me up the GC into the top 50 , Answer yes jumped up from 57th to 49th 😁 ,52nd in the green jersey and a slightly disappointing 58th in the polka dot but it was the GC I targeted in this one .Total time 11hr 46mins some 2hrs 9mins slower than @Peter Salt ,who all deserves a mention for coming 7th in the green jersey in his cat .After completing the last tour and getting my arse kicked ever stage I swore I'd never be back ,but I was drawn in and a demotion to a lower cat helped . Targets were just try and be competitive and post a time that would win the Cat below ,both these targets were achieved. You get all sorts on these tours in the time trails I raced a 136Kg guy and chased a 50kg lady up a hill . Special mention to the laterane rouge of the tour who took over 17hrs to finish 😮

Tour Zwift 2024. I entered the B event, due to restricted riding time I thought I had. Loops around Rolling highlands. I mixture of all categories. Plan was to go hard and try and hold on as long as possible to lead group, which worked until minute 14- just as Del dropped a thumbs up- the shame of failing at that point. I eased off waited for stronger riders in packs to catch me, eventually found a small pack 4 others, where we worked well (they did) and keeping a pack of 30 rider at bay. i think thet got within 10 secs at one point, but where nearly 25 when I crossed the finish line.

Hit the prized level 50, so can use the flaming socks

Came 25th Z and 20th ZP from 140 starters- far as I can tell, I took gold for first C cat rider.

Oops!

Sorry about that! ^_^

Well done on the GC - it's probably better than mine! On the topic of not ever doing it again - are you doing the World Tour?
