Did a banded ride today. Slow going on the flat and down hill, but blimey uphill was great, did ADZ in 65 minutes, I think the best I've done it solo is 79 minutes.... goes off and checks, 74 minutes best time.
Yep, banded rides are essentially a complete waste of time, especially if you value the integrity of your personal bests and the data that Zwift and Strava record for you.

So my plantar fasciitis has come back pretty bad. Can barely walk. No obvious reason either. Not a fun way to end 2023. Feeling old and decrepit 😂 Still, managed to ride 400 km of the R500. Was going to do another 100km this afternoon but a lie down on the sofa beckoned instead.

An early Happy New Year to all of you. Here’s to lots of miles virtual and otherwise in 2024 👍

Shiiit. That's no good Bob. Had you been doing more riding than usual? I pretty much stopped doing the exercises for the last couple of months because I didn't seem to need them any more. But I guess you never really know?

I use Zwift for exercise and it is so much easier doing it in company, not bothered about PB's but I do like ticking off the routes. It was still a good 2 1/2 hour workout, well apart from the 10 minute descent.

Yeah I have though riding hasn’t triggered it before. I am following the E3 rehab exercises which have worked before. Fingers crossed yours remains at bay.

Are you doing an organised tour in Tenerife or going solo?
I’m holidaying with the wife for 10 days though I’ve booked a hire bike for 7 of those. My plan is to get in early morning spins - all solo - 90 mins or so; with one long day which I’ll aim to cycle up to the cable car base station on Teide 🌋 - I’ve cycled in Tenerife before back in 2014 but that was at the height of summer. I’ll pack some gear for cooler weather as I hear it can be very cold up at altitude and on the descent. I’m staying in Costa Adeje - I don’t remember the roads that well other than having to head out under the motorway on the road up towards San Lorenzo / Arona. I need to research a few more routes and ideally find a flat route for a few easy days though that might be wishful thinking.

You could make your way on the coastal roads to Playa San Juan, climb up to Chio, then onto the top via this road. This link is to the restaurant we used to stop at before going onto the top.

Then across the caldera, back down via Vilaflor. You can then get into Costa Adeja easily. Or do it the opposite way. The roads up to into the Teide national park were all resurfaced around 2019/2020, so should be super smooth. The days will be just starting to get longer for daylight, making the ride safer on descents.. The temperatures on top can be so varied, usually clear skies, you can see by looking for the volcano top ^_^

Enjoy, have a few beers

PS is you see Tenerife bike training group rides, say hello to Marcos or Alberto from Big Andy:laugh:

Here in Finland is a bit of colder than in Tenerife. temperature here is -20˚C and northern Finland is nearly -30˚C. There are speculations too can -51,5˚C record break at this climate 🥶😲

Wow, that is cold, bits will drop off if exposed
