Where does it say there's a specific 5 minute power limit - I thought Zwift's formula for calculating zFTP was secret?

It's not - it's zMAP which is variable 4-6 minute power-based but zMAP is what puts me in Cat B as the threshold is 4.1 and my best efforts have been in the 4.35 region. zFTP is a pile of shite and I would still be in C if it were that alone. If you're above the threshold on either one, you go up.

zwiftracing.app categories are much narrower though. The number of riders that B encompasses is huge. Much too wide.

Post 1… 6 March 2017.

How come people moved from Bkool back in the day? Is it any good?

Well the Bkool gang are still going strong I believe. When this all started most of us had Bkool trainers and raced on their software. It was great actually - I'm sure the graphics compared to what we now get in Zwift were really poor but some aspects of it were better than Zwift for racing in particular. You could set up leagues with various stages - like your own personal ZRL - and the league tables would automatically populate with race results etc.

And the way draft worked (works?) on Bkool I always thought was way better than on Zwift as you actually felt the reduction in resistance as you got in the draft so if felt more realistic. I think Zwift just gradually got more popular.

Oh and of course our Bkool trainers were woefully inaccurate and generous with watts, with tyre type and tyre pressure having a huge impact - happy days ^_^
I fondly remember the days when I had a 2000W sprint  compared to my measly 348W nowadays 😭 😭 😭 😭

Vastly improved and augmented reality as well as video and avatars. Probably the best thing are the races with just the y people in the League. come back and give it a try. You can live in both worlds.

Edit: nobody is using a wheel on trainer

Newcomer @TheCave is on a BKOOL Pro 2, but I’m not sure if it is beneficial or not these days in the BKOOL Cycling app.

Its really only the numbers Randy. With 20+ riders in the small events, there is usually someone to have race against with similar abilities. Big events there are hundreds, sometimes thousands of riders to compete with.

The groups are just too small, if you get dropped you're on your own.
